The Parisien now wants to be a paysan, but it's easier said than done . . . How do you plant leeks in cement-hard French soil, impress Gallic neighbours with your non-existent gardening credentials and survive a seven-hour celebratory communion lunch (followed by dinner)? What skills are required to cope with suicidal French mice (souricide?), resist the advances of an attractive but desperate lady cheese-maker during an English lesson, buy wine from Mr Grump the grower, and -- last but not least -- stoop so low as to snap up the plastic trophy in the annual garden competition? AN ENGLISHMAN A LA CAMPAGNE is a wonderfully warm and witty follow-up to the author's account of his first year living in Paris. Now broadening his affectionate embrace to include the myriad facets of the French countryside, Sadler makes you laugh, makes you think, and makes you love the place . . . even Donges, which won first prize in his competition for the grottiest village in France.

This book explores the content of The Moderate, a radical newspaper of the British Civil Wars published in the pivotal years 1648-9. This newsbook, as newspapers were then known, is commonly associated with the Leveller movement, a radical political group that promoted a democratic form of government. While valuable studies have been published on the history of seventeenth-century English periodicals, as well as on the interaction between these newspapers and print culture at large, very little has been written on individual newspapers. This book fills a void: it provides an in-depth investigation of the news printed in The Moderate, with reference to other newspapers and to the larger historical context, and captures the essence of this periodical, seen both as a political publication and a commercial product. This book will be of interest to early-modern historians and literary scholars.

This book combines the Holy Bible English Edition (King James Version) and French Edition (Louis Segond 1910 Version) into one. The Holy Bible - King James Version (KJV) is an English translation of the Christian Bible for the Church of England that began in 1604 and was completed in 1611. It is also known as the Authorized Version (AV) or King James Bible (KJB). The King James Version has been called "the most influential version of the most influential book in the world, in what is now its most influential language". This translation and its subsequent distribution was instrumental in opening the door to the spread of the truth. It is an excellent resource for bible study and spiritual fellowship. Optimized for Mobile: this book is optimized for reading on Kindle, iPhone, iPad, Android Phones and other digital devices. It contains enhanced typesetting features and a comprehensive and smart Book Navigation system.
