Current and concise, the updated and revised 2nd Edition of this pocket-sized reference reflects the substantial changes shaping the evaluation and treatment of many emergency conditions today. Its unique "signs and symptoms" approach offers the quickest possible way to diagnose critical conditions in an emergency situation. Organized around presenting symptoms, it can be used in real time to answer patient care questions. Diagnoses are listed in order of their severity in each chapter, with the symptoms, signs, suggested workup, and patient disposition given for each diagnosis. Uses a symptom-based approach for quick diagnosis. Features an outline format for real-time reference. Focuses on the 200 conditions most frequently encountered in the emergency room. Presents a useful tool for evaluating the likelihood that a specific symptom - or symptoms - denotes a particular disease, and allows the reader to initiate an appropriate treatment. Includes new chapters on emergency situations involving biological, chemical, and radiation terrorism - chapters devoted to the challenges presented by patients with AIDS and those with organ transplants - two chapters on environmental emergencies - one chapter examining heat illness, hypothermia, and submersion injury - and a chapter on envenomations. Features expanded "Treatment Considerations" sections.

This book explains in a clear and simple way what life is and how it flows within our cells, between people and through people. It is a practical manual that will help us to "feel" life, to vibrate and breathe the life inside of our bodies and of all living beings. A key focus of this work is how emotional impact affects our pericardium, which is the membrane that envelops, maintains and protects the heart.

Noninvasive mechanical ventilation is an effective technique for the management of patients with acute or chronic respiratory failure. This comprehensive and up-to-date book explores all aspects of the subject. The opening sections are devoted to theory and equipment, with detailed attention to the use of full-face masks or helmets, the range of available ventilators, and patient-ventilator interactions. Clinical applications are then considered in depth in a series of chapters that address the use of noninvasive mechanical ventilation in chronic settings and in critical care, both within and outside of intensive care units. Due attention is also paid to weaning from conventional mechanical ventilation, potential complications, intraoperative applications, and staff training. The closing chapters examine uses of noninvasive mechanical ventilation in neonatal and pediatric care. This book, written by internationally recognized experts, will be an invaluable guide for both clinicians and researchers.

Thomas Doolittle (1632–1707) was a faithful servant of Jesus Christ and preacher of the Gospel, whose preaching and writing were used to awaken many sinners to the religious business of eternal life and eternal death. This work really needs no introduction; it would be enough just letting Rev. Doolittle loose on your soul. It is a puritan gem, few of which exist and have been republished in this format. This treatise was originally a series of sermons preached to his congregation, which he then took and combined into the present treatise. There are 8 sermons, each building upon the former, and all surrounding the need to hasten and come to Jesus Christ quickly. They are succinct, biblically sound, filled with pastoral concern, but equally commanding and authoritative. His central text is taken from Psalm 119:60, “I made haste, and delayed not to keep thy commandments.” The sermons cover his main doctrine: that what the blessed and eternal God commands us to do, is to be done with all possible speed, with all haste, without delay. Doolittle utilizes his time to deal practically with calling unconverted sinners to come to Christ, how that should be accomplished, and also directing converted sinners to make the most of their time since God has in fact saved them graciously.
