"Bath County, in western Virginia, was formed from Augusta, Botetourt, and Greenbrier counties in 1791. It is itself the parent county for part of Alleghany County, Virginia, and Pocahontas County, West Virginia. This work consists of genealogical abstracts of the oldest surviving wills and inventories for Bath County--but that's not all. Interspersed with the inheritance records are abstracts of bonds, powers of attorney, estate settlements, articles of agreement, and other records of genealogical import. In general the will abstracts furnish the name of the testator, his county of residence, the names of witnesses and executors, the date of probate, and the names and relationships to the testator of the heirs to the will. All told, nearly 15,000 early residents of Bath County appear in these pages"--Publisher website (August 2007).

Families of Antrim, New Hampshire comprises the second half of W. R. Cochrane's centennial history of the town, in which the compiler endeavored to record the genealogy, however fragmentary, of every family born or associated with Antrim from 1777 to the time of the book's publication in 1880. Many of the genealogies, it should be noted, span the town's 100-year history to 1877 and/or are replete with biographical information on their subjects. Arranged alphabetically by surname, the sketches number nearly 1,000.

"Jonas Ricks apparently valued anonymity. His personal style was that of a quiet and private man, and those propensities helped build a genealogical 'brick wall' that continues to hide his past, beyond Rowan County, North Carolina. Jonas lived in that county about 1768 ... "It is possible that Jonas Ricks did not want his ancestry known. Whatever the reason ... only a few records exist in which he appeared before his death in 1821"--Page 85
