Not only am I the girl from @lemikasummer96 who was honored to meet the great icon 2Pac Shakur, I'm also a poet! I'm a single mother with a dream who chose to make it come true! Although Pac was one of the first souls that inspired through his art, physical being and spirit, I'm also moved by other legends and beautiful souls, which led me to create a unique style of poetry I refer to as Letters From an Angel. I've been writing poetry the majority of my life. This has helped me get through some difficult times and I wanted to share my gift with the world. Some may already know 2Pac Shakur took me under his wing and did a lot for me; I'm not talking about material things, but knowledge and wisdom that he passed down through his words and time. He often told me I had a gift with my words and that they will be heard one day. My poetry book is to release this side of me and to pay homage to the late icon and other public figures who affect this world on such a global scale that allowed me to create and express the impact their demise had on me. This inspired me to write these poems. These poems were written to help loved ones get that last goodbye from the deceased. Although the letters are fictional, my goal is to help their families have hope, patience, healing and understanding through this forever-long grieving process. We all have experienced the loss of loved ones. When a close family member of mine transitioned, I wrote my first letter. That letter helped me understand the process of letting go and spiritual love. However, I've decided to add years of different styles of my poetry in this book! If you have lived, this book of poetry applies to you. This book not only has Letters From an Angel, but covers current events, history, inspiration, illness, love, heartbreak, society impact, truth and so much more. There's truly something for everybody. This is a journey that my audience and I will take together. Thanks for all the love and support; fasten your seatbelts and let's take this ride. Enjoy, poetic angels. Love your one and only Lemika Early Open the Book of life through poetry! Motivation! Hope! Faith! Spiritual connection! Dedication! Revolution! Heartbreak! Mini Stories! A piercing, unforgettable love story set in Greenwood, Oklahoma, also known as the “Black Wall Street,” and against the Tulsa Race Massacre of 1921. Isaiah Wilson is, on the surface, a town troublemaker, but is hiding that he is an avid reader and secret poet, never leaving home without his journal. Angel Hill is a loner, mostly disregarded by her peers as a goody-goody. Her father is dying, and her family’s financial situation is in turmoil. Though they’ve attended the same schools, Isaiah never noticed Angel as anything but a dorky, Bible toting church girl. Then their English teacher offers them a job on her mobile library, a three-wheel, two-seater bike. Angel can’t turn down the money and Isaiah is soon eager to be in such close quarters with Angel every afternoon. But life changes on May 31, 1921 when a vicious white mob storms the Black community of Greenwood, leaving the town destroyed and thousands of residents displaced. Only then, Isaiah, Angel, and their peers realize who their real enemies are.

Fallen Angels by Walter Dean Myers is a young adult novel about seventeen-year-old Richie Perry, a Harlem teenager who volunteers for the Army when unable to afford college and is sent to fight in the Vietnam War. Perry and his platoon—Peewee, Lobel, Johnson, and Brunner—come face-to-face with the Vietcong, the harsh realities of war, and some dark truths about themselves. A thoughtful young man with a gift for writing and love of basketball, Perry learns to navigate among fellow soldiers under tremendous stress and struggles with his own fear as he sees things he’ll never forget: the filling of body bags, the deaths of civilians and soldier friends, the effects of claymore mines, the fires of Napalm, and jungle diseases like Nam Rot. Available as an e-book for the first time on the 25th anniversary of its publication, Fallen Angels has been called one of the best Vietnam War books ever and one of the great coming-of-age Vietnam War stories. Filled with unforgettable characters, not least Peewee Gates of Chicago who copes with war by relying on wisecracks and dark humor, Fallen Angels “reaches deep into the minds of soldiers” and makes “readers feel they are there, deep in the heart of war.” Fallen Angels has won numerous awards and honors, including the Coretta Scott King Award, an ALA Best Book for Young Adults, a Booklist Editors Choice, and a School Library Journal Best Book. Fallen Angels was #16 on the American Library Association’s list of the most frequently challenged books of 1990–2000 for its realistic depiction of war and those who fight in wars.

A practical and spiritual guide for working moms to learn how to have more by doing less. This is a book for working women and mothers who are ready to release the culturally inherited belief that their worth is equal to their productivity, and instead create a personal and professional life that's based on presence, meaning, and joy. As opposed to focusing on "fitting it all in," time management, and leaning in, as so many books geared at ambitious women do, this book embraces the notion that through doing less women can have--and be--more. The addiction to busyness and the obsession with always trying to do more leads women, especially working mothers, to feel like they're always failing their families, their careers, their spouses, and themselves. This book will give women the permission and tools to change the way they approach their lives and allow them to embrace living in tune with the cyclical nature of the feminine, cutting out the extraneous busyness from their lives so they have more satisfaction and joy, and letting themselves be more often instead of doing all the time. Do Less offers the reader a series of 14 experiments to try to see what would happen if she did less in one specific way. So, rather than approaching doing less as an entire life overhaul (which is overwhelming in and of itself), this book gives the reader bite-sized steps to try incorporating over 2 weeks!

ISBN: 9781643621142

A collection of epistolary poems that exorcises and explores the material violence and generational trauma of colonization and systemic racism stored within queer Latinx memory. In DESGRACIADO, Angel Dominguez navigates a visceral constellation of language and memory, illuminating the ongoing impacts of misremembered and missing histories, and their lasting impacts. Dominguez unravels a critical and tender language of lived experience in letters addressed to their ancestral oppressor, Diego de Landa, (a Spanish friar who attempted to destroy the written Maya language in Mani Yucatán, on July 12th 1562), to articulate an old rage, dreaming of a futurity beyond the wreckage and ruin of the colonial imaginary. This collection doesn't seek to heal the incurable wound of colonization so much as attempt to re-articulate a language towards recuperation.
