Boro woke up that late May morning amazed that nothing hurt him. His hips, knees, back, heart, and lungs were perfect. He was able to breathe with full lungs fresh morning air scented with cherries in bloom. He sat in a reclining chair in his backyard with morning coffee and newspapers lying on a small outdoor table, gulped some coffee, leant back in the chair and closed his eyes in short snooze, relieving erotic encounters from his youth. He opened his eyes, got up, warmed his coffee, made himself a grilled cheese sandwich, and opened up newspapers. What more would an old man want: beautiful day, cup of hot coffee, his favourite sandwich and newspapers. And none of these darn pains, aches, check ups, biopsies, tests and pills. A fly landed on his grilled cheese sandwich. He tried to squash the intruder with his newspaper. He missed. His back hurt, triggering a few other pains and aches to revisit him. He was again just a sickly, old man. He leant towards East, and prayed: 'Thank you God for this short, wonderful moment of happiness in my old age. Was this a pre taste of Your Heavenly Kingdom? Please Lord; grant me more of these pain free, bright and happy days.' Will the Lord grant Boro's prayer before he reaches Journey's End Valley?

Jesus is one of the world’s best-known historical figures, but how well do we know him as a boy and a man? What do we know of his parents? Was his father really a poverty-stricken carpenter and his mother a simple uneducated country girl? Who were his friends and associates? What was his true message and passion? How well did he relate to the women in his life and who was ‘the disciple that Jesus loved’? This story answers these questions and is based largely on the New Testament gospels, but with the addition of material from other sources. It contains elaborate dialogues and settings, body language and emotional content. His true message is brought to the forefront, and we see the beginning of the first church in Jerusalem. This is the Jesus story as you have never read it before! Revealing a man with incredible spiritual connection but in every other sense a real and masculine man. A man that you will want to know so much more intimately.

Using stories he collected from narrators from the old West African kingdom of Benin, the author shows how the present mirrors the past in both folklore and political reality, suggesting that African states fail to create a level playing field for the plural identities within their borders, leaving marginalized peoples uncertain of their place in an uneven socio-political landscape.
