How would you like to join me on an unbelievable ride? Let us take a ride on a mystical wooden kiddie roller coaster as we travel thru my dash (you know, that line that separates, the date you were born and the date that says you, died) to, re-live my experiences, when I went knocking on Heavens door, starting at the early age of five years old, having to survive my first automobile accident. At sixteen, I drowned but was miraculously saved. Four years later I was in Vietnam, then had two major automobile accidents one before I was there in the WTC on the 93 bombing, then another before I was there on 9/11. After ten months at Ground Zero, I ended up with nineteen health ailments, one being bladder cancer. This will probably have you feel like youve been pushed back into that seat youre in and have you look to see if youre safely secured, as we go about feeling the remainder of those climbs, drops, curves and hoops with me. While were still on this journey, I will tell you about some of these most amazing surprising coincidences that had occurred to me (ones that I could never imagine, happening) and all because of this sudden change in me, that came about, hours later on September 11, 2001. Why, and more than, anything why me?

Maybe “She Passed by Him” or “Butterfly Madam” or “I Will Leave You in the Echoes” or “You Kept Me Awake Last Night” or “Today I Drank the Wine”. This collection of short stories is intended to illustrate a more humorous glimpse of a soldier's life in Vietnam. It's of the times when boredom and a fertile imagination often lead to amusing situations, rather than the "blood and guts" of combat. All the narratives in this book, saves one, are true, or at least were presented to the author as fact. Some are without a doubt true, as they happened to the author. Other Vietnam veterans related the remainder of the yarns, swearing that each and every detail was unquestioningly genuine. We all know that combat veterans do not lie but their memories may, nevertheless recall their experiences slightly altered from actual events. Perusing these stories the reader might logically conclude that ego or passing years might, just possibly, influence a few of the bone-chilling tales. GI's live through numerous happenstances that are not heroic but are embarrassing or mundane. No matter how cynical a GI becomes, some events, maybe only in retrospect, are viewed as ironic or downright funny. These random experiences are what the book are about.

"The small town of Elroy, South Carolina is thrust into the evangelical spotlight when what seems to be the image of Jesus appears on a refrigerator in a trailer park. The discovery by Lou Ann Hightower, her husband Dwayne, and her best friend Betsy, sets into motion a frenzy of conflict, communion and good old fashioned commerce. When the National Investigator turns the appearance into front-page headlines, their trailer park becomes a Mecca for miracle seekers, soul searchers and disciples with a decidedly political agenda. At the urging of the towns business leaders, Betsy pretends to get messages from the appliance-based apparition, and the crowds multiply like loaves and fishes. Through the ordeal, the three undergo an evolution in their relationships with each other, and they are forced to come to grips with their lowly status in the caste system of the rural south. In a region where religion is as much a part of life as grits and cotton fields, God surely moves in mysterious ways."--Publisher's website.

“Crime fiction aficionados with a taste for the offbeat will be rewarded.” —Publishers Weekly I Take Care of Myself in Dreamland by Ross Klavan Bartok is left with scars from the Army but something else, as well-the memory of a strange, mystical experience that he calls “Red River.” Back home and out of luck, he wanders through 1970’s New York hoping to recapture this strange state. But others see Bartok as an easy mark for some very dirty business and their plan is to use him for murder. Jammed by Tim O’Mara Aggie is back in business. He’s no longer smoking bootleg cigarettes as he did in “Smoked,” now he’s smuggling another usually legal-and quite valuable-products: maple syrup. Unfortunately, on the way from the Midwest to New York City, he’s picked up an unwanted traveling companion, the fifteen-year-old daughter of his latest boss. It seems she wants to get to NYC to meet up with her on-line boyfriend, who turns out to be much more than she expected. All Aggie wants to do is drop off the syrup, pick up a paycheck, and get on home. Before he does that, he’s gotta play hero. Again. The Maybrick Affair by Charles Salzberg As World War II rages in Europe, it’s a couple weeks before Pearl Harbor and rookie reporter, Jake Harper, who works for a small Connecticut newspaper, is assigned a routine human interest story. A reclusive, elderly woman, has quietly passed away in her small cottage upstate. As Jake investigates the old woman’s life and death he finds that years earlier she was tried and convicted of murdering her husband in a well-publicized, lurid trial in London, England. And, after digging further, he, unearths evidence that she might have had a connection to an even more famous British serial killer and that the ramifications of this story might affect America’s entry into the War.

Ever wish you were a fly on the wall in the apartment of whoever? Well, the narrator of this book, Stinko Ole, that's his name, is not a fly on the wall but rather a "neighbee" on the stoop, most of the time. And this stooped person, is far from stupid, but tells us the dirt, or for those who abhor dirt, gives us the scoop on what makes the folks who cross that stoop tick. We're talking about the ones who live in the building. Perhaps you grew up in one or live in one now, or if a private house-dweller, won- der how people in such places relate to each other. The guy repeats himself, and seems obsessed with respect for the NYPD, and sees his "neighbees" in the ideal, as clumps of wet and dry leaves stuck together on the drainholes of the steel sewer grate at the end of the curb gutter in the street. The clumping keeps them from going down the drain, which is his expectation for all humanity. When this "clumping" is done with CLR, i.e. Courtesy, Love, and Respect, that "clumper" fits his bill as a real neighbee. He repeats himself often with bizarre analogies and metaphor, and at times makes one wonder if the author is hiding in this freaky frame. One must read "Neighbees" to arrive at an educated guess or at least a maybee.
