Named a Best Book of 2021 by Newsweek and a Most Anticipated by People, TIME, USA Today, Real Simple, Glamour, Nylon, Bustle, Purewow, Shondaland, and more! Educated meets The Vow in this story of liberation and self-empowerment—an inspiring and stranger-than-fiction memoir of growing up in and breaking free from the Children of God, an oppressive, extremist religious cult. Faith Jones was raised to be part a religious army preparing for the End Times. Growing up on an isolated farm in Macau, she prayed for hours every day and read letters of prophecy written by her grandfather, the founder of the Children of God. Tens of thousands of members strong, the cult followers looked to Faith’s grandfather as their guiding light. As such, Faith was celebrated as special and then punished doubly to remind her that she was not. Over decades, the Children of God grew into an international organization that became notorious for its alarming sex practices and allegations of abuse and exploitation. But with indomitable grit, Faith survived, creating a world of her own—pilfering books and teaching herself high school curriculum. Finally, at age twenty-three, thirsting for knowledge and freedom, she broke away, leaving behind everything she knew to forge her own path in America. A complicated family story mixed with a hauntingly intimate coming-of-age narrative, Faith Jones’ extraordinary memoir reflects our societal norms of oppression and abuse while providing a unique lens to explore spiritual manipulation and our rights in our bodies. Honest, eye-opening, uplifting, and intensely affecting, Sex Cult Nun brings to life a hidden world that’s hypnotically alien yet unexpectedly relatable.

The battle between Mattel, the makers of the iconic Barbie doll, and MGA, the company that created the Bratz dolls, was not just a war over best-selling toys, but a war over who owns ideas. When Carter Bryant began designing what would become the billion-dollar line of Bratz dolls, he was taking time off from his job at Mattel, where he designed outfits for Barbie. Later, back at Mattel, he sold his concept for Bratz to rival company MGA. Law professor Orly Lobel reveals the colorful story behind the ensuing decade-long court battle. This entertaining and provocative work pits audacious MGA against behemoth Mattel, shows how an idea turns into a product, and explores the two different versions of womanhood, represented by traditional all-American Barbie and her defiant, anti-establishment rival—the only doll to come close to outselling her. In an era when workers may be asked to sign contracts granting their employers the rights to and income resulting from their ideas—whether conceived during work hours or on their own time—Lobel’s deeply researched story is a riveting and thought-provoking contribution to the contentious debate over creativity and intellectual property.

The softest Domme in the Cancer Cluster meets her match in New World: Own Me by Lily X. Austy: It’s hard to be single when you’re surrounded by people who are so in love. For almost a decade, I’ve watched my friends form unbreakable bonds with their Mates, start families and live the life I so desperately want. The Third Star doesn’t have a large dating pool, so can I really be faulted for being single at almost thirty? Damn it, I just want to belong to someone! To make matters worse, Pa has a ridiculous idea up his sleeve to bring an external investor into our family’s dairy business to save us from debt. We don’t need saving, especially from some soulless big-city investor who’s only out there to make money off little businesses like ours… Fia: The last person I expect to walk through my office doors on a Friday afternoon is such striking loveliness, staring at me with splotchy color on her cheeks. There’s such innocence in her eyes, as though she can’t understand why she’s reacting to me the way she is: stuttering, flushing, blurting out the first thing on her mind. It’s endearing, really. Now, do you think Austy will agree to play with me for a weekend? I can truly say that writing this book was not in my plans because I had just published the Book, "It Stops with Me!" However, so many friends and family members asked that I write a follow up on how to overcome the Depression, Anxiety, and the many other rough conditions that develop after stopping the abuse. This task was definitely not easy for me because not only am I still trying to overcome however many of my own issues, I am typing and I was diagnosed just recently with Severe Carpal Tunnel Syndrome and was told by my Doctor to try to stay away from typing and writing for a while.

The “Queen of Suspense” Mary Higgins Clark and Alafair Burke are here with their fifth enthralling mystery in the New York Times bestselling Under Suspicion series as television producer Laurie Moran must solve the murder of a celebrity doctor—before a mysterious stalker plots his next move. Television producer Laurie Moran recently became engaged to her investigative television show’s former host, Alex Buckley, and since then, the two have been happily planning a summer wedding, preparing for Alex’s confirmation to a federal judicial appointment, and searching for the perfect New York City home for their new life together. But then Laurie is approached by Robert and Cynthia Bell, parents of Dr. Martin Bell, a physician who was shot dead as he pulled into the driveway of his Greenwich Village carriage house five years ago. The Bells are sure that Martin’s disgraced and erratic wife, Kendra, carried out the murder. Determined to prove Kendra’s guilt and win custody over their grandchildren, they plead with Laurie to feature their son’s case on Under Suspicion, ensuring her that Kendra is willing to cooperate. As Laurie dives into the case, she learns that Martin wasn’t the picture-perfect husband, father, and doctor he appeared to be and was carrying secrets of his own. And what does the web of lies ensnaring the Bell family have to do with a dangerous stranger, who gazes at Laurie from afar and thinks, She is actually quite a lovely girl, I’m sure she’s going to be missed…? You Don’t Own Me is the perfect, exhilarating follow up to the bestselling Every Breath You Take. The “Queen of Suspense” Mary Higgins Clark and her dazzling partner-in-crime Alafair Burke have devised another riveting page-turner.

Poetry is the balance between my existing and my living…My struggles and my triumphs…My hopes and my faith…My nightmares and my dreams…poetry is vibrating waves of sound transformed from silence…Poetry is the echoing hollow within that was told it could not and would not exist…breaking out in screams, laughter, and songs…Leaving the muted soul with a voice. Poetry is the hand that is always there to lift me up, poetry is the lips that always returns my kiss softly…Poetry is letters formulated into words that compose sentences…Poetry is my temptress…Poetry seduces me time and time again…And I'm an exotic love affair between consonants and vowels that creates stimulating metaphors with each embrace. “PoeticSymmetry” is a collection of some of those intimate moments forever sealed in time and exposed by the ink drops on a once blank canvas.
