Words are exciting to me. Like jigsaw pieces, when properly arranged, they become a beautiful story picture of communication that can plant love in a heart, tears in the eyes, and laughter on a sad face. Words are powerful. They direct the floundering, reform the sinner, and teach scholars. Words have the ability to concoct stories, document facts, comfort another, sign a peace treaty, compose a love letter, affirm a birth or a death. Words preserve visual and hidden meanings to be discovered by the reader. Because of my fascination with words I express my interpretations over two hundred ways in my poems that comprise this book. I want my words [poems] to live on for others to enjoy, love, hate or whatever.

Writing for children is not about writing little stories, it is about writing big stories, shorter. Children's literature is an art form in its own right, and this book is for everyone who wants not just to write for children, but to write well for them. This short guide to creative writing for children is based on the author's own successful MA course. Andrew Melrose provides guidance on every aspect of the process of writing for children. He stresses the importance of 'writing for' the child and not 'writing to or at' them. Literacy and learning depend on writing and reading and it is therefore the responsibility of the writer to understand who they are writing for. The book is divided into four sections which cover all aspects of the writing process. This book goes far beyond the 'how to' format to help writers learn the finely balanced craft of writing for children. It will be an indispensable handbook for aspiring and practising children's authors.

Window Seat: The Story of a Traveling Life presents an explorer’s tale or perhaps a memoir of journeying. Neset was born near the beginning of World War II and spent the next eighty-five years traversing the world, from northern Minnesota’s Koochiching County to Mongolia, Madagascar, Singapore, Syria, and most points between. While the lands are grand, the adventures reflect a more human scale, often originating in books Neset read and always planned by her alone. Who could have imagined that, as her travels drew to a close, the planet would be experiencing similar turmoil to the events leading up to the world war into which she was born? With that in mind, she encourages everyone to get out there and experience this magnificent planet while they still can.
