Alive and Well--The Mayan...The year was 2002 and the author was about to embark on the seventh of nine journeys in the "And There I Was" series---Guatemala. The Mayan civilization still survives after emerging from thirty-four years of scorched-earth destruction and genocide supported and precipitated by the CIA's assassination of the country's democratically elected President who dared disturb America's economic interests in support of land reform and peasant rights. Travel amongst beautiful indigenous people in a land of stunning topography---emerald lakes, forest-clad highlands, rainforest and jungle---studded at every turn with smoking volcanoes and the colorful dress of the gentle Maya. Visit an extraordinary enclave on the Caribbean coast known as the Garifuna and the hellhole that was the home of the United Fruit Company. As always, the people and their precious children---a little blind girl on Lago Atitlan and little Gloria in the highlands who'd had her fingers removed during the war. There too, was gentle Gaspar and his son, Mayan recently returned from exile in Mexico, trying to rebuild their village while keeping alive the memory of those that had lost their lives. The journey comes to a climactic close when a gun-toting gangster threatens to kill a child football player on the Rio Dulce.

The Pulpit Commentary was first published between 1880 and 1919 and is a highly respected work written by conservative, trustworthy men. Containing over 22,000 pages and 95,000 entries, it is one of the largest and best-selling homiletic commentary sets of all time. It was directed by editors Joseph Exell and Henry Donald Maurice Spence-Jones and utilized more than 100 authors over a 30-year span. When reading this commentary, it is not difficult to see why it has remained a favorite amongst pastors for more than 100 years. There are three key elements which set this apart from its contemporaries, the first being that it gives an exposition, or verse-by-verse, annotation of each verse in the Bible. The second element is that it explores the framework of the text, the homiletics. Finally, it supplies the homilies with multiple model sermons from various authors. Also included is a translation as well as historical and geographical information. The Evangelical Magazine and Missionary Chronicle declared, “This commentary bids fair to take a conspicuous place among the ever-multiplying aids to the study of the Holy Scriptures. It will revive the great work of Lange, and will far exceed the Speaker's Commentary in the bulk and fullness of its material. The peculiarity of the Pulpit Commentary is that it offers special assistance to the preacher: first by giving him a critical and exegetical exposition of the text of Scripture, and then providing him with succinct and helpful directions as to the preachable aspects of the chapter and paragraph already explained." The print edition of this set typically retails for more than $1,000 making the current offered price a very good bargain. Due to its size, it has been broken up into nine separate volumes: Volume 1 Genesis to Joshua Volume 2 Judges to 2 Kings Volume 3 1 Chronicles to Job Volume 4 Psalms to Song of Songs Volume 5 Isaiah to Daniel Volume 6 Hosea to Malachi Volume 7 Matthew to John Volume 8 Act to Philippians Volume 9 Colossians to Revelation The footnotes have been placed in line with the text with each footnote number enclosed in red brackets (i.e.: []) and the text in green. There is also a linked table of contents at the beginning of each volume for ease of navigation. Key Features * Over 22,000 pages with more than 95,000 entries * One of the largest and exhaustive commentary sets of its kind * Contributions from over 100 authors * Expositions—with thorough verse-by-verse commentary of each verse of the Bible * Homiletics—with the framework or overall look of the text * Homilies—four to six sample sermons from various authors * Detailed information on Biblical customs * Historical and geographical information * Translations of key Hebrew and Greek words All 23 Volumes of the printed version are included in these nine volumes. 1. The eight journey of nine in the And There I Was series-Ethiopia, cradle of all mankind-took place in 2004. Come along and recount the incredible history of a country older than time itself-a country of orphaned children steeped in Christianity. Trek the Simiens, a geological creation that surpasses even the imagination of God, where the lion-like baboon presides. Travel to an island monastery on Lake Tana where the Arc of the Covenant once resided and hold council with a priest who has spent his entire life studying the origins and meaning of Christianity-a man perhaps more knowledgeable than any other who serves as custodian of an underground vault of parchment texts predating Christ. Witness local women performing the world's most seductive dance, the Iskista, and see incredible churches hewn out of the earth's bedrock in Lalibela, the Jerusalem of Africa. Meet the children of Ethiopia and have them guide you by the hand to the headwaters of the Nile. Share sugar cane and song with the raincloud Dorze people and roam the shores and waters of Lake Chomo amongst the largest crocodiles in the world. Chew "qat," sample "tej" or honey wine, the nectar of the Gods and gorge on "injera" made from the national grain, "teff."

Join New York Times bestselling author Heather Graham’s Krewe of Hunters, an elite FBI unit of paranormal investigators, as they’re called in to investigate when cases take a turn for the strange and there are no earthly leads… Three thrilling stories together in one box set! DYING BREATH The city of Boston is being terrorized—someone is kidnapping women and burying them alive, but cruelly leaving a glimmer of hope for the authorities by sending a clue about their location. Historian Vickie Preston is pulled into the investigation when her name is mentioned in one of the notes. Special Agent Griffin Price is on the case for the Krewe of Hunters. He’s protective of Vickie, since their shared past is connected to the threat that currently surrounds them. With the killer accelerating his plans, time is running out for more victims hidden around the city. Vickie is becoming closer with Griffin, but she’s getting too close to the danger, and every breath could be her last. DARK RITES Someone is viciously beating random strangers around old Boston, and Vickie’s friend Alex Maple was one of the victims—and now he’s gone missing. The escalating attacks suggest that a dangerous cult is at work behind the scenes—one so powerful that its members would rather die than be apprehended. Vickie and Griffin are finding their way in an increasingly passionate relationship, and Griffin is desperately trying to keep her safe and the two of them sane amid the disturbing investigation. The search for Alex will take them deep into the wilderness of Massachusetts on the trail of a serial killer, and it will take everything they have to survive the ancient evil that awakens and threatens not just the man they’re striving to save, but their very souls. WICKED DEEDS Vickie and Griffin’s romantic weekend in Baltimore is interrupted when a popular author is found dead in the basement of an Edgar Allan Poe-themed restaurant. As more bizarre deaths occur, they are drawn into a case that has disturbing echoes of Poe’s great works, bringing the horrors of his fiction to life. The restaurant is headquarters to scholars and fans, and any of them could be a merciless killer. Unless they can uncover whose twisted mind is orchestrating the dramatic re-creations, Vickie and Griffin’s future as a couple might never begin…
