The U.S. Chamber of Commerce has released its revised & updated manual on the Americans with Disabilities Act that helps businesses understand the employment & accessibility requirements of the law. The employment requirements took effect July 26, 1992. The guide illustrates what businesses must do to take affirmative steps to allow the disabled into the workplace. It offers a series of helpful hints & a list of information resources. This 88-page guide covers the employment & public access provisions of the new law. It offers recommendations on what sort of procedures to take when hiring, promoting, offering health care & terminating a disabled individual. The guide also provides insight to the physical alterations that may be made in order to make your facilities accessible to the disabled.
