Who am I, and what am I here for? Our lives depend on how we answer that question. It will affect everything from our career choices to the way we relate to God and others. But where can we turn to find the answer? Our friends? Our job title? Our relationship status? Many of us base our identity off what we do or the number of likes we get on a post. We constantly perform for other peoples approval, and then we wonder why we feel so exhausted and insecure. But whats the alternative? What if we allowed the One who created us to answer the question for us? Eric Wayman, a pastor, professor, and disciple, invites us to pull away the masks we have been hiding behind and allow God to show us who we are and what he made us to do. Its time to get real.

Genius always leaves clues, and The Genius of Jesus follows those clues so that you can discover your own personal genius. Several years ago, while working on a family tree for the community of Pedro Bay I became intrigued by the region’s past and its many fascinating characters. Soon thereafter, I decided to document the history of the north Iliamna Lake region through the eyes of one of my uncles, Walter Johnson. Walter is the son of a man from Estonia and a local Dena’ina/Russian woman, Annie, my great grandmother. Although Walter was one of nine children, he grew up alone with his mother. From her he learned the Dena’ina language and its folklore. Walter’s wonderful storytelling captures well what life was like on the lake for most of the 20th Century. Betty L. Aiyeko-ooto excited in 8th anthology marvels, when words (meters) explode into puzzle (stanzas), then mind key turns and what casually turn -verses into stanzas, and to poems. Crafting verses, one feels like a creator. New ideas, new philosophies and even new words. Feeling a word that sounds like this exists. Then pounding the table "I knew it!". It is a force of habit lately because of the technical literature nature of poetry. We have rhymes, couplets, limericks, quatrains, meters, pentameters, alliterations, assonance, dissonance, climax, anti-climax, strophes, antistrophes, and epodes etc. I'm no academic by any long shot, but it gives a feeling of exploring foundations of creation. ""Cradle Blooms"" Everything from foundations of the earth blooms, multiplying itself and scattered all over. In poetry, Aiyekooto exhumes interactions of 5 primitive elements of creation, according to folklore. These are mortar, pestle, sinew, water and a pair of molding hands. Everything else are Outliers!

In 1894–1895, after suffering defeat against Japan in a war primarily fought over the control of Korea, the Qing government initiated fundamental military reforms and established “New Armies“ modeled after the German and Japanese military. Besides reorganizing the structure of the army and improving military training, the goal was to overcome the alleged physical weakness and lack of martial spirit attributed to Chinese soldiers in particular and to Chinese men in general. Intellectuals, government officials, and military circles criticized the pacifist and civil orientation of Chinese culture, which had resulted in a negative attitude towards its armed forces and martial values throughout society and a lack of interest in martial deeds, glory on the battlefield, and military achievements among men. The book examines the cultivation of new soldiers, officers, and civilians through new techniques intended to discipline their bodies and reconfigure their identities as military men and citizens. The book shows how the establishment of German-style “New Armies” in China between 1895 and 1916 led to the re‐creation of a militarized version of masculinity that stressed physical strength, discipline, professionalism, martial spirit, and “Western” military appearance and conduct. Although the military reforms did not prevent the downfall of the Qing Dynasty or provide stable military clout to subsequent regimes, they left a lasting legacy by reconfiguring Chinese military culture and re‐creating military masculinity and the image of men in China.
