"Mark Twain called the theatre for young audiences "one of the great inventions of the twentieth century." Moving into the twenty-first century, the field continues to grow in importance--as an educational force, certainly, but also as an art form, and maybe even as a political weapon for change in our complex society. Moses Goldberg has been a witness to, and an important leader of, much of that development. In this collection of essays, he reveals his personal insights and passions, drawing on his years of experience in the changing field--especially his twenty-five years as Producing Director of Louisville's Stage One. The essays divide into three sections, examining the politics, the art, and the business of TYA. Sample titles include such provocative concepts as: The Actor/Priest, The 60-Minute Myth, and The Stage by Stages. Altogether they represent a heady compilation of wisdom from one of the field's most visible leaders."--Publisher's description.

This unique edition is the result of the second International Theatre for Young Audiences Research Network (ITYARN) conference that was held in Malmoe, Sweden, in May 2011 as part of the XVIIth ASSITEJ World Congress and Festival. In fifteen essays that are illustrative of the wide variety as well as of the many opportunities for research in TYA, this book covers six continents, includes quantitative, qualitative, ethnographic/action, and historiographical methods, and highlights critical theory, philosophical discourse, play analysis, and other approaches. The essays deal with a broad range of issues, including representation, cultural contexts, questions of identity, race-, class-, and gender theory, notions of child and childhood, aesthetics, and the influence of media and dominant ideologies. ITYARN aims to further research in the field of theatre for young audiences to contextualize and theorize the lively artistic products for children and youth globally. It is the research network of ASSITEJ, the International Association of Theatre for Children and Youth, which co-produced this publication.

Marathi, an Indo-Aryan language, is the official language of Maharashtra, including Mumbai. Father Thomas Stephens, the first English traveler to Goa, a pioneer linguist, wrote "Christa Puran" in Marathi (1616) and "Arte da Lingoa Canarim" in Portuguese, printed in (1640). The latter is a grammar of Konkani, a language closely related to Marathi. It is the first grammar of its kind marking a new grammatical tradition for modern Indo-Aryan languages. The present volume contains an extensive account of Marathi phonology, morphology, word formation and syntax. It succinctly describes the accentual system, special compound verb forms, unique pronominal anaphors, complex agreement due to split ergative system, and special pronominal marking. The book also contains a case study of a child s acquisition of Marathi and an essay on Women s Language, the two topics that are increasingly becoming relevant to the grammar."

What would you do if you could live forever? Eleven-year-old Winnie Foster yearns for a life of adventure beyond her white picket fence, but not until she becomes unexpectedly entwined with the Tuck family does she get more than she could have imagined. When Winnie learns of the magic behind the Tuck’s immortality, she must fight to protect their secret from those who would do anything for a chance at eternal life. As her adventure unfolds, Winnie faces an extraordinary choice: return to her life, or continue with the Tucks on their infinite journey. Based on the best-selling children’s classic by Natalie Babbitt, adapted for the stage by Claudia Shear and Tim Federle, and featuring a soaring score from Chris Miller and Nathan Tysen, the TYA edition of Tuck Everlasting is a condensed 70-minute version of the Broadway production, re-conceived by the authors to be performed by nine actors.

And in the beginning from a single source in space mass, space, time and energy concentrated exploding creating many universes. The non-life matter took many forms, our sun, and planet Earth. Events on earths volcanic past gave way over billions of years to organic micro-molecules from Earth's stratum amino acid by natural selection. Life system events evolved with larger micro-organisms, creatures, animals, mammals, and primates. A specialized ape diverted from the Primate australopithecus. This primate is our link to Man.
