The Twice-Told Tale: Parallels in the Bible is the English version of a Hebrew work titled Parallels in the Bible, which is also published by Carta Jerusalem. As in the Hebrew version, the entire Book of Chronicles (I and II) appears in one column, with the parallel verses from other books of the Bible in an accompanying column on the same page. Parallels between books other than Chronicles are also included, such as parallel laws in the Pentateuch, later prophets' use of earlier prophets, and parallel psalms and proverbs. Words or phrases that are omitted in one source are represented by blank spaces of appropriate length in the opposite column. The Twice-Told Tale uses the classic text of the King James Version for this English edition. Key features of The Twice-Told Tale - It collates and presents parallel Bible texts in a way that clearly shows the duplications, differences, and silences. - It is conveniently arranged for ease of study. - It allows you to draw your own conclusions regarding the variant accounts in the Bible.

Nathaniel Hawthorne was an American novelist, a dark romantic, and short story writer. "Twice-Told Tales" is a volume of rearranged myths in which Hawthorne uses unexpected points of view to deftly twist the themes of classic folktales. These ironic tales introduce complex, emotional topics within a familiar context. The volume contains “Wakefield”, “The Hollow of the Three Hills” and other stories.

Twice-Told Tales presents the life and writings of Dante Alighieri's maestro, the Florentine notary and diplomat, Brunetto Latino. The book first discusses archival documents found in Florence, the Vatican Secret Archives, Genoa, England and elsewhere, which were written by or which name Brunetto Latino. The documents concern, among other topics, the Vallombrosan Abbot Tesauro, the Sicilian Vespers' plotting, and the death by starvation of Ugolino. The book then discusses Brunetto's translations of Aristotle's Ethics and Cicero's De inventione, as texts presented to Charles of Anjou and others, as well as the influence of these texts on Dante. Appendices present the archival documents discussed in the book and list manuscripts containing Latino's writings.

While the popular press has criticized movie remakes as signs of Hollywood's collective lack of imagination, the essays in Dead Ringers reveal the centrality and staying power of remakes as a formative genre in filmmaking. The contributors show that the practice of remaking films dates back to the origins of cinema and the evolution of film markets. In fact, remakes were never so prevalent as during the Classic Hollywood period, when filmmaking had achieved its greatest degree of industrialization, and they continue to play a crucial role in the development of film genres generally. Offering a variety of historical, commercial, theoretical, and cultural perspectives on the remake, Dead Ringers is a valuable resource for students of film history and theory, as well as those interested in the cultural politics of the late twentieth century.
