Descripción del editor: "heet forming fundamentals are thoroughly addressed in this comprehensive reference for the practical and efficient use of sheet forming technologies. The principle variables of sheet forming-including the interactions between variables-are clearly explained, as a basic foundation for the most effective use of computer aided modeling in process and die design.Topics include stress analysis, formability criteria, tooling, and materials for sheet forming. The book also covers the latest developments in sheet metal forming technology, including servo-drive presses and their applications, and advanced cushion systems in mechanical and hydraulic presses." At present, the manufacturing industry is focused on the production of lighter weight components with better mechanical properties and always fulfilling all the environmental requirements. These challenges have caused a need for developing manufacturing processes in general, including obviously those devoted in particular to the development of thin-walled metallic shapes, as is the case with tubular and sheet metal parts and devices. This Special Issue is thus devoted to research in the fields of sheet metal forming and tube forming, and their applications, including both experimental and numerical approaches and using a variety of scientific and technological tools, such as forming limit diagrams (FLDs), analysis on formability and failure, strain analysis based on circle grids or digital image correlation (DIC), and finite element analysis (FEA), among others. In this context, we are pleased to present this Special Issue dealing with recent studies in the field of tube and sheet metal forming processes and their main applications within different high-tech industries, such as the aerospace, automotive, or medical sectors, among others.

This practical and comprehensive reference gives the latest developments on the design of sheet forming operations, equipment, tooling, and process modeling. Individual chapters cover all major sheet forming processes such as blanking, bending, deep drawing, and more. Process modeling using finite element analysis is described in one chapter and discussed in all appropriate chapters. Other chapters cover sensors and die materials, which are critical for practical sheet forming applications. Other topics include relatively new technologies, such as warm forming of magnesium and aluminum alloys, forming of advanced high-strength steels (AHSS), and hot stamping. Chapters also address special sheet forming operations, like spinning, incremental forming, and mechanical joining, and processes related to sheet forming, such as sheet and tube hydroforming, roll forming, and high-velocity forming.

This book describes different types of rubber-pad forming processes currently being studied for their experimental and numerical advantages and disadvantages. Rubber forming adopts a rubber pad contained in a rigid box in which one of the tools (die or punch) is replaced by the rubber pad. Up to 60% of all sheet metal parts in aircraft industry such as frames, seat parts, ribs, windows and doors are fabricated using rubber-pad forming processes. Key process parameters such as rubber material, stamping velocity, rubber-pad hardness and thickness and friction conditions are investigated. The potential role of rubber as a flexible punch in metal working processes is to give insight to engineers about different parts that can be produced using this process The procedure of suitable die design for each process is presented in detail Full defect analysis is undertaken with a thorough report presented to optimize rubber-pad forming processes
