Farther South in Turkey it grows to. A height of 50 or 60 feet, but is not hardy in cold climates. At Reutlingen Mr. Lucas showed us the fruit of a number of varieties bearing large nuts of different shapes, but I cannot say if likely to prove hardy here. In the extreme climate of Kazan we saw lots of wild Hazel, but the fruit is small no improvement upon our native species.
