For those who have difficulty achieving goals, this self-help guide offers a simple approach to making lasting behavioral changes for success. Some people struggle every single day to improve but seem to take three steps back for every two steps forward. People tell them it’s because they lack willpower or because they’re weak or don’t want something badly enough. But they know that’s not true. Health and Wellness coach Kathlyn Heim helps those who are constantly struggling to create lasting change in their lives finally make their changes stick. The Rule of Nines lays out an individualized nine-step approach to goal identification, achievement, and permanent success that helps readers understand why they’ve failed in the past and shows them how to effectively change their actions moving forward. Although there are plenty of goal achievement guides, Kathlyn works in the missing piece of deep self-reflection that’s necessary for lasting change. Rather than being based on an external reward system, The Rule of Nines focuses on an internal reward system through self-discovery, making it possible for readers to live the life they desire and proving that it really is never too late to change.

To the Nines will introduce you to a whole new golfing experience by sharing the stories of nineteen nine-hole layouts across the country. Fenwick, Katherine Hepburn's playground, dates back to the 1890s. Just before a hurricane destroyed her family home in 1938, Hepburn aced Fenwick's ninth hole and shot even par. Long before Mike Keiser set out to turn a chunk of Oregon coast into one of the world's great golf destinations, he built The Dunes Club, easily the finest nine-hole course of the modern era. To the Nines will send you on a mission to discover the roots of the game, and to seek out your own unique and unheralded courses. This second edition includes recent renovations and rebunkering of several of these classic “nines” as well as a chapter on a newly built course.

The Nine Chapters on the Mathematical Art has been the most important mathematical source in China for the past 2000 years, comparable in significance to Euclid's Elements in the West. The Nine Chapters quickly acquired a distinguished reputation, and was the standard mathematics textbook in China and the surrounding regions until Western science was introduced in about 1600. This volume contains the first complete English translation of the Nine Chapters, together with the illuminating commentary of Liu Hui written in the 3rd century AD and other early century commentaries and further insights provided by the translators. The Nine Chapters contains 246 problems and their solutions, which fall into nine categories that are firmly based on practical needs. There are methods for solving problems in areas such as land measurement, construction, agriculture, commerce, and taxation, while the Chinese commentators provide the algorithms needed to solve the problems, and explanations of how the algorithms work. The translators' commentary provides clear and accessible background material for the Western reader, explanations of technicalities, and notes on the treatment of similar or identical mathematical problems in other countries. This first, full-English translation gives us an idea of the distinctive style and important contributions that have been made by traditional Chinese mathematics.
