In a future where time travel has been outlawed, a black market exists for anyone with the money, connections, and nerve to request items from days past. As a Runner for one of the underground syndicates that now controls the timewaves, Stassi 2446-89 has seen it all: the fall of Rome, the rise of Hitler, the end of democracy, the establishment of time tourism, and the devastating consequences of it. Her job is to seamlessly slip through the past, in search of items of value to the syndicate's clientele.Stassi's next assignment takes her to Paris in the 1920's, in search of a lost manuscript by one of the twentieth century's greatest writers. She and her partner, Gaige, are swept up in the City of Light during the height of fashion and culture--as alluring a locale as they've ever visited. But a seedier side of life lurks beneath the glamorous façade, and the pair quickly learns this run is more dangerous than any of their previous missions.Because history isn't playing out as it should be--a first for the syndicate. When the stakes are raised and it becomes a matter of life or death, Stassi and Gaige must ultimately decide how far they're willing to go to ensure the future as they know it.

In his most important book since Taking the Quantum Leap, Fred Alan Wolf, Ph.D., explains how our understanding of time, space, and matter have changed in just the last few years, and how with these new ideas we have a glimpse into the "mind of God." Making comparisons to Hindu Vedic and Judeo-Christian cosmology, Dr. Wolf explains how the universal command of the Deity "Let there be light" now takes on a new scientific meaning: Everything is literally made of light and the reader will learn how quantum physics proves this is so. Contains 70 b&w illustrations.

Peter never saw the small brilliant beam of light nor the tall white figure materialize from thin air, twenty feet behind him, as he slowed to walk the last few feet before leaving the park. The figure paced exactly twenty feet behind as Peter made his way down the path toward his house. As he opened the door Peter felt a tingling in him mind, as if a thousand small electrical currents were turned on. He took two more steps before falling half-in and half-out of his entranceway. Peter struggled to grab a thought and hold it as jumbled images flashed from deep within his memory pouring forth like fireworks on the Fourth of July. His eyes fought to open from the dark void he felt in his mind, but could not. His eyes only saw the back of each retina while a movie seemed to dance within the light. It reminded Peter of time-lapse pictures taken of freeways at night; all you saw were long streaks of car-lights speeding by. From far away he heard the soothing voice repeat, "Relax. Please do not try to resist the transfer, Peter."

Some day in the not-so-distant future, you're going to be eating an ice cream sandwich at Hagan Das or drinking your favorite Pina Colada at Margaritaville. If you're with a group of friends or family, you're laughing, joking, enjoying a nice Spring day. Suddenly, you feel a dull thud under your feet and the ground shakes violently in a way that you've never felt before. You look up and notice a huge mushroom cloud rising up into the sky making it darker and darker. Then, you notice a brilliant reddish-orange wall of light coming at you and actually melting cars, trucks and buildings and blowing the smithereens all over the place in all directions. You realize that it is moving so fast, there is no way that you and your family and friends can get out of the way. As you take in the startled, surprised and shocked look on the faces of those around you, you notice a slight twinge and then you are no more. As the orange wall of heat reaches you, you are incinerated along with everyone and everything you have known as part of your reality. OR the only other Alternative Reality: The weather has gotten warmer and warmer to the point that many people around you have begun to wear space suits. They are totally covered from head to foot in a pressurized and air-conditioned suit complete with a helmet that provides enough oxygen for the wearer to live and breathe comfortably. You can't afford such a Climate Suit, as they are called, so you try to get your errands done even though you can barely breathe. You're sweating all over your body, but so is everyone else who is not wearing a Climate Suit, which is most people at the time. There is some relief at night, but even nights are hot enough so that you can't get any sleep unless you spray yourself with water every few minutes. You turn your air conditioning unit on its highest setting, but there is not enough electricity to keep it running for more than a few minutes because it's being rationed everywhere. Your best friend, the family dog has been put down because the heat is now too much for any furry animals and most of them are dying by the billions, their carcasses littering the streets. There is no one to pick up their bodies because no one has that much energy for non-essential things. The TV news tells you that the government is working feverishly on the problem of the growing heat wave. Gas powered cars and trucks have been abandoned long ago. So, part of the problem is that there is no industrial infrastructure any more that can construct enough solar panels and wind turbines because there isn't enough food for workers or electrical power to manufacture anything at this point and everyone knows it would just add to the growing pollution of the air. All the trees have died out, or been used for heating and cooking years ago, the only natural element that could have saved us. Everyone lives hour by hour expecting the President to come on TV and finally admit that these are the final days for the stubborn lot of remaining citizens to stay alive. Soon, all oxygen will be depleted. When the President finally comes on the air and starts to finally admit to these things. you can feel the last few molecules of oxygen as they leave your lungs and makes you gasp your last gasp. This is the TIME BOMB. It's ticking down right now to the end of our existence here on Planet Earth. There is hope, although it is a fading one, and only if everyone within the sound of my voice learns how to defuse this FINAL TIME BOMB and begins taking the necessary actions listed in this book that can and will stop it ticking STARTING NOW!

A dying man's life flashes past as science fiction stories created by his panicked brain. Trying to make sense of its imminent demise, the brain spins tales of monster flies, and time machines, and weird factories, and a library of unreachable books. As it fights to stay in the past, forever circling its final moments, the dementing organ casts itself as The Great Mind, a god-like entity at the end of time. This Sum of the Dead resets a repeatedly breaking universe, trying to put things right. The Time Aerials are its own tree-like brain cells whose fractal branches leak into time and create consciousness itself. But the brain, like all artists, leaves clues and conceits and signatures hidden in plain sight... This is metafiction and the brain’s an unreliable narrator. Perhaps the book’s an instruction manual, maybe one of many…
