Michel Notredame, or Nostradamus (1503-1566), was a French physician, astrologer, and prophet whose books of visionary four-line verses have intrigued and beguiled readers for hundreds of years. Now, with this fun and easy guide, everyone can finally get a handle on Nostradamus and his "Centuries" of prophecies, which many people believe to have predicted the French Revolution, the rise of Hitler, the Kennedy assassination, and 9/11, among other events. The book covers Nostradamus's life and beliefs, his use of cryptic language and anagrams, interpretations of his work that link it to specific historical incidents, and critics who are skeptical of his prophecies. This book tackles that age old question of meaning and the Question of What is this thing called Go(o)d? by using the analogy of a tree. It first sets out to devise the seed of the research by giving some definitions of what the author thinks Go(o)d is. Or you might say Go(o)d's, reason for being. It's essence. Then the earliest sources of the Jesus story are examined. The roots. Finally, a big picture examination of history, the branches and canopy, reveals a theory with five related corruptions to the religious story.

Who was Nostradamus, and what faith should we place in his predictions? This book gives objective answers. It reveals that Michel de Nostredame, a 16th-century French doctor, was more Renaissance man than arcane magician - and that his prognostications can be compellingly astute. In this edition all of the cryptic short verses of Nostradamus's Centuries appear in the original French, with new translations. Uncanny prophecies such as those of the French Revolution and the rise of Hitler are examined in detail. Here too are interpretations of the many verses believed to augur future events.Editor Ned Halley works in fields of journalism as diverse as medicine, wine and business. He takes a Plain English approach to 'a subject far too often wreathed in language that seems calculated to obscure, rather than to demonstrate, the truth'.

Michel de Nostredame (December 1503 — July 1566) was a French astrologer, apothecary, physician, and reputed seer, who is best known for his book Les Prophéties (published in 1555), a collection of 942 poetic quatrains allegedly predicting future events. Nostradamus's father's family had originally been Jewish, but had converted to Catholic Christianity a generation before Nostradamus was born. Academic sources argue that Nostradamus's predictions are characteristically vague, meaning they could be applied to virtually anything, and are useless for determining whether their author had any real prophetic powers.
