Excerpt from The Wool Situation, Vol. 26: February 24, 1954 Production of wool in the United States this year probably will be less than last. Output of shorn wool probably will decline since the number of stock sheep at the beginning of the year was down slightly. Fewer sheep and lambs are expected to be slaughtered this year which would result in reduced production of pulled wool. World supplies of wool for the current season are expected to be about the same as for the 1952-53 season. An increase in production is forecast, but stocks at the beginning of the season were smaller than a year earlier.
