Mysterious murders make the pilgrims on the Way of St James shudder from the Pyrenees to Santiago de Compostela. By chance, one of the pilgrims, the German chief detective Raschke from Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, witnessed an act. At first, the encounter seems random. Then, however, a series of murders begins, which takes place parallel to the pilgrimage of the police officer. Attacks are also committed on Raschke, who is apparently to be eliminated as an annoying witness. For the Spanish police, the German becomes a decoy who should lead them to the perpetrators.

The Camino Chronicles Continues When newlyweds Laura and Felix arrive in the pilgrim city of Santiago de Compostela their married bliss seems untouchable. But when Laura walks into a "cold spot" outside their apartment in the historic centre, her doctoral thesis on Feudal Galicia begins to come alive as she begins to question who is Pedro the Crooked and what is her apparent connection to Diego Gelmirez, first archbishop of Compostela. As her husband begins to doubt her state of mental health, Laura retreats more and more into the twelfth century and Felix sets out once again on the Camino de Santiago--alone. Or is he? Part fiction intertwined with much historical fact, St James' Rooster takes the reader to the turbulent times of the Middle Ages and the beginnings of the cult of St James known as El Camino de Santiago. Diego Gelmirez follows his driving ambitions to make Compostela into another Rome. In so-doing he must challenge a queen, and rival a Pope, even if it means putting his own life in the gravest danger.

Did you know? • Freemasonry's first American lodge included a young Benjamin Franklin among its members. • The Knights Templar began as impoverished warrior monks then evolved into bankers. • Groom Lake, Dreamland, Homey Airport, Paradise Ranch, The Farm, Watertown Strip, Red Square, “The Box,” are all names for Area 51. An indispensable guide, Cults, Conspiracies, and Secret Societies connects the dots and sets the record straight on a host of greedy gurus and murderous messiahs, crepuscular cabals and suspicious coincidences. Some topics are familiar—the Kennedy assassinations, the Bilderberg Group, the Illuminati, the People's Temple and Heaven's Gate—and some surprising, like Oulipo, a select group of intellectuals who created wild formulas for creating literary masterpieces, and the Chauffeurs, an eighteenth-century society of French home invaders, who set fire to their victims' feet.
