The Very Worst Road contains sixteen contemporary accounts by travelers who reached Alabama along what was known as the "Old Federal Road," more a network of paths than a single road, that ran from Columbus and points south in Georgia for more or less due west into central Alabama and to where the confluence of the Tallapoosa and Coosa Rivers forms the Alabama River. These accounts deal candidly with the rather remarkable array of impediments that faced travelers in Alabama in its first decades as a state, and they describe with wonder, interest, and, frequently with some disgust, the road, the inns, the travelling companions, and the few and raw communities they encountered as they made their way, often with difficulty, through what seemed to many of them uncharted wilderness. The Very Worst Road was originally published by the Historic Chattahoochee Commission in 1998.

James O'Malley is hot. Built like a lumberjack with a beard to match, I can't take my eyes off him. I really should be able to, considering we had the very worst sex of my life six months ago. But he won't stop looking at me with his broody, soulful gaze every time I take a seat at his bar and I'm quickly becoming addicted to it. When he looks at me like that, I think maybe I should throw out all my rules and give him a second chance to become the very best. James doesn't just want a second chance; he wants all of me, and he won't settle for any less. I have to decide if I can open myself up to a man whose code I can't quite crack. Because he might want all of me, but I'm not sure he's willing to give me the same. The Very Worst is a sexy and funny second chance romance with a broody, introverted hero who goes from the worst to the best and a sassy, dancer heroine. It can be read as a standalone! (The Very Worst was originally titled Cut Loose. Now with new content for 2020!)

For eighteen years, Jude Farraday has put her children's needs above her own, and it shows—her twins, Mia and Zach, are bright and happy teenagers. When Lexi Baill moves into their small, close-knit community, no one is more welcoming than Jude. Lexi, a former foster child with a dark past, quickly becomes Mia's best friend. Then Zach falls in love with Lexi and the three become inseparable. Jude does everything to keep her kids out of harm's way. But senior year of high school tests them all. It's a dangerous, explosive season of drinking, driving, parties, and kids who want to let loose. And then on a hot summer's night, one bad decision is made. In the blink of an eye, the Farraday family will be torn apart and Lexi will lose everything. In the years that follow, each must face the consequences of that single night and find a way to forget...or the courage to forgive. "Engaging hybrid - part lyrical travelogue, part investigative journalism and part jeremiad, all shot through with droll humor." --The Atlanta Journal Constitution In 1867, John Muir set out on foot to explore the botanical wonders of the South, from Kentucky to Florida. One hundred and fifty years later, veteran Atlanta reporter Dan Chapman recreated Muir's journey to see for himself how nature has fared since Muir's time. He uses humor, keen observation, and a deep love of place to celebrate the South's natural riches. But he laments the long-simmering struggles over misused resources and seeks to discover how Southerners might balance surging population growth with protecting the natural beauty Muir found so special. A Road Running Southward is part travelogue, part environmental cri de coeur--a passionate appeal to save one of the loveliest and most biodiverse regions of the world by understanding what we have to lose if we do nothing.

A broody bartender, a sassy-as-hell dancer, and a surprise twist on second chances; this swoon-worthy romantic comedy will have you laughing, blushing, and believing that maybe opposites do attract. Can be read as a standalone! We had one night together six months ago. One terrible, no good tangle in the sheets. I should be over him, right? But James, with his gorgeous, ginger beard, shoulders that go on for miles, and soft, steady manner, is the only thing I can think about. We couldn't be more different. James is quiet and reserved, where I've never had a thought I didn't express. He's broody with a tendency to be reclusive and I'm just a little bit reckless and a whole lot of wild. But when we meet in the middle? Those differences don't seem to matter very much. And now I wonder if maybe, just maybe, we can have a second chance at our first time. Cut Loose is a funny and sexy story of second chances and happy endings. Also included is an excerpt of my next book, Cut Free, which releases in August 2018.
