Excerpt from The Twenty-Seventh Secretary's Report of the Class of 1866 of Harvard College, June, 1928 Here is our Sixty-second Anniversary and here is your little Yearbook. Since last Commencement we have lost from our little band Thomas Sergeant Perry. Requiescat in pace! I felt sure that you would like to see a picture of our dear friend and hostess of former years, Mrs. Lilian Hosford Farlow, who died last Autumn. Abbott's picture was so good and showed such a wonderful convalescence from his illness, that I thought I should give you a chance to see it. Please do not forget to notify me of any errors of commission or omission in this book, and any suggestions at any time I will thankfully receive. Let me express my gratitude for all the kind things which you have said to me in your letters. All health and happiness for the coming year! Excerpt from The Seventh Secretary's Report of the Class of 1866, of Harvard College: June, 1881 June, 1886 Here is our seventh Report. Its imperfections and short comings, so far as I am responsible for them, I trust you will attribute to lack of time, on my part, rather than of good-will. Your answers to my circular were, as usual, somewhat meagre, but it was pleasant to have all but four of our ninety-seven sur yiying graduates send some answer, however short. 1 wish to thank particularly those who wrote me letters. Not only for their contributions to the Report, but also for their kindly expressions of regard to me personally; they gave me great pleasure, and I am sorry to acknowledge them only in this general way. Our death rate continues very low; but this is small consola tion to the friends of E. H. Clark, Holden and Otis. Who never more will join us at Commencement-time. Une. Hundred and ninety six children have been born to the ('lass more than twice the present number of us survivors. It may cheer the hearts of the miserable little band of twenty bachelors to know that the girl baby to whom the Class cradle was given is well on her way to nineteen years, and that next year will find five other daughters of the Class eighteen years old; whether the hearts of these young ladies will be much cheered by the twenty bachelors is another question. My dear Stratton, I will intrude what might be called a self inspection or a personal diagnosis; my physical powers seem to be functioning with normal efficiency, but the handicap of my stricken eyesight thwarts my longing desire to accompany my Harvard Classmates to the banquet Of the Class of '79 to be given in Phillips Brooks House, June 20.
