In the magnificent empire of Ortega, Cárcel Escalante’s fate was sealed at the tender age of six when Inés Valeztena, an equally young girl, chose him as her future husband. With the clock ticking on his bachelorhood, Cárcel, a man of striking looks adorned in the finery of a navy uniform, indulges in the pleasures of his fleeting single status. Unbeknownst to him, Inés eagerly anticipates the day she can dissolve their impending union. She delights in Cárcel’s licentious exploits, seeking nothing more than a partner willing to part ways when the time comes. When Cárcel discovers Inés’s nonchalance toward his promiscuity, confusion gives way to intrigue, prompting him to see Inés in a new light and reevaluate his priorities. Now, determined to prove his worthiness as her husband, Cárcel embarks on a journey of self-discovery. Meanwhile, Inés is resolute in executing her plans for divorce. In this enchanting romance set against the tapestry of a bygone era, they must navigate the complexities of love and redemption, confronting unexpected truths that lie beneath the surface. Will Cárcel succeed in changing Inés’s mind, or is their destiny already written in the stars? Volume 1 contains Parts 1 – 5 of the original serialization. A fascinating look at the fantasy and philosophy of C.S. Lewis and J.R.R Tolkien. The two men were friends and fellow professors at Oxford, renowned Christian thinkers who both "found it necessary to create for the purposes of their fiction other worlds not utopias or dystopias, but different worlds." "The great importance of [Lewis and Tolkien] is that they have succeeded in restating certain traditional values in a way that they make an imaginative appeal to a very wide audience, young and old, traditionalist and non-traditionalist." — Richard Purtill, Author, J.R.R. Tolkien: Myth, Morality, and Religion

A prize-winning, magisterial history of World War I from the perspective of the defeated Central Powers For the Central Powers, the First World War started with high hopes for an easy victory. But those hopes soon deteriorated as Germany's attack on France failed, Austria-Hungary's armies suffered catastrophic losses, and Britain's ruthless blockade brought both nations to the brink of starvation. The Central powers were trapped in the Allies' ever-tightening Ring of Steel. In this compelling history, Alexander Watson retells the war from the perspective of its losers: not just the leaders in Berlin and Vienna, but the people of Central Europe. The war shattered their societies, destroyed their states, and imparted a poisonous legacy of bitterness and violence. A major reevaluation of the First World War, Ring of Steel is essential for anyone seeking to understand the last century of European history.

What you're reading right now is known as the "cover copy," or “flap copy.” This is where the 84,951 words of my latest book are cooked down to 350 words or less to capture your imagination/download. I pondered how to do that. Should I cut to the chase and reveal pivotal plot points like the one at the end of the book where the little girl on crutches points an accusing finger and shouts, "the killer is Mr. Porter"? No. I have too much respect for you as an intelligent consumer to attempt such an obvious ruse. But let's not play games here. You clicked your way to this page, so you either: A. Know who I am. B. Like the cool smoking jacket I'm wearing on the cover. Or: C. Thought this was a secret link to Ashley Madison. Is it a sequel to my autobiography If Chins Could Kill: Confessions of a B Movie Actor? Sadly, no, which made it much harder to write. Is it an "autobiographical novel"? Yes. I am the lead character in the story (coincidentally an actor), and I am a real person, and everything in the book actually happened - except for the stuff that didn't. The action revolves around my preparations for a pivotal role in the A-list relationship film, Let's Make Love! My Homeric attempt to break through the glass ceiling of B-grade genre fair is hampered by a vengeful studio executive and a production that becomes infected by something called the "B-movie virus" - symptoms of which include excessive use of cheesy special effects, slapstick, and projectile vomiting. From a violent fistfight with a Buddhist to a life-altering stint in federal prison, this novel has it all. And if the 84,951 words are too time-consuming, there are lots and lots of cool graphics – all of which have been upgraded to vibrant color since the first publication. I hope you enjoy the book – and if you learn anything at all about making love, please share it with me! Regards, Bruce "Go Ahead and Call Me Ash" Campbell
