The Sawdust Festival is a real art festival in Laguna Beach. This is the setting for Sylvia Snyder's hilarious novel. Here are only a few of the artists in THE SAWDUST FESTIVAL. TERRENCE RUBEN, who has made himself an art studio in one of Laguna's numerous caves. He beach combs and makes collages of driftabilia. He also makes "Shmuck" buttons and gives them out as a way of dealing with his angers. ED HINKLE, whose wife left him with five children. He is overwhelmed until he learns that the Laguna Ballet Company trains boys free. Ed makes chairs out of trees. NATHAN MALACARO, the high school philosophy teacher who is trying to pick up some extra cash by selling ceramic frogs. MARVIN KELLY, a handsome gay man who erects Ferris wheels, etc out of metal rods. His partner is JEROME WICKET, who can never make up his mind about anything. Three teens are up to no good and steal from Terrence and Ed. They hide the art works on their family's yacht and send a ransom note to the artists. In a funny scene all the characters go to catch the thieves. You will laugh all the way through.

As one of the West Coast's most unique and beautiful resort cities, Laguna Beach has thrived as an enduring enclave of art culture, a destination of hidden beaches, and a coastline rich in natural wonders, which its officials and residents strive to maintain. Settlers arrived in the 1870s, and by the summer of 1918 Laguna's first art gallery opened, featuring works by a growing collective of local artists. Hundreds of visitors came on opening day and, in the next month, 2,000 more visited the small art gallery. In 1932, Laguna started what would become a world-renowned event called the Festival of the Arts and later added the equally famous Pageant of the Masters. Since its simple beginnings as a small village situated where Laguna Canyon opens onto the Pacific shoreline to the reason there are traffic jams on Coast Highway during hot-month weekends, this southern Orange County jewel has continued to be a great draw for beachgoers, painters, and nature lovers the world over.

What if the traditional narrative about immigrant women--that those who come to the United States will succeed as long as they work hard, stay focused, and have supportive families--is a lie? Of the 73 million women in the US workforce, 11.5 million are foreign-born. The truth is--even in the midst of headlines and political debates about immigration reform and in the wake of MeToo and other female-centric movements--millions of immigrants, especially women, aren’t living their fullest potential. Based on her personal experience and the stories of trailblazing women from around the world and in diverse industries, author Chinwe Esimai shares five indispensable traits that make an ocean of difference between immigrants who live as mere shadows of their truest potential and those who find purpose and fulfillment--what Chinwe refers to as their immigrace: Saying yes to your immigrace, an immigrant woman’s expression of her highest purpose and potential Daring to play in the big leagues Transforming failure Embracing change and blending differences Finding joy and healing These five traits are the foundation of the Brilliance Blueprint, a step-by-step guide to help readers achieve to their own extraordinary results and build their own remarkable legacies.
