This book investigates the use of technology by the university teachers in their instruction to explore the viability of training within a Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) for their professional development. It observes changes in their perceptions about technology and the level of use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) tools in teaching. It claims the significant improvement in the university teachers' usage of a number of ICT teaching tools after they received VLE training. Additionally, it points to positive change in the attitudes, knowledge and skills of these teachers and promises an active role in the teachers' professional development for these aspects. The book is also claiming that a CPD scheme delivered via a VLE can positively change university teachers' knowledge, attitude, and skills about technology, and consequently increase the use of ICT tools in teaching and learning.

Higher education is constantly changing and advancing, and the integration of technology and its transformative potential remains elusive for many universities globally. While other industries have surged forward with digitization, higher education has been slow to completely embrace technology-driven outcomes. Reshaping Entrepreneurial Education Within an Industry 4.0 Context sheds light on the barriers preventing widespread technological adoption and the profound changes that Industry 4.0 brings to education. As the fourth industrial revolution, Industry 4.0, continues to unfold, this book delves into how this phenomenon is reshaping the field of education. This book presents a comprehensive analysis of how digital technology and capabilities are becoming integral to building more flexible and adaptive tertiary education systems in regions like Latin America and the Caribbean. It also highlights the challenges faced by online learning and the urgent need for a fundamental rethinking of higher education to ensure equal access to quality education. This publication addresses a diverse audience, making it an essential resource for students, academicians, and higher education administrators seeking an in-depth understanding of Reshaping Entrepreneurial Education Within an Industry 4.0 Context. For practitioners, it provides valuable insights to enrich their work in the realm of higher education. The book covers a broad spectrum of key themes, including the impact of the 4th industrial revolution on entrepreneurial education, the transformative power of online learning in global universities, and the hurdles faced in adopting digital education. Additionally, the experts behind this research delve into how information and communication technologies (ICTs) are influencing educational policies and teaching methods worldwide, as well as the role of metaverse technologies in designing curricula for entrepreneurial education.

Online Learning and Its Users: Lessons for Higher Education re-examines the impact of learning technologies in higher education. The book focuses particularly on the introduction and mainstreaming of one of the most widely used, the virtual learning environment (VLE) or learning management system (LMS). The book presents an activity theoretic analysis of the VLE's adoption, drawing on research into this process at a range of higher education institutions. Through analysis and discussion of the activities of managers, lecturers, and learners using the VLE, lessons are identified to inform future initiatives including the implementation of massive open online courses (MOOCs). A replicable research design is included and explained to support evaluation and analysis of the use of online learning in other settings. The book questions accepted views of the place of technologies in higher education, arguing that there has been a repeated cycle of hype and disappointment accompanying the development of online learning. While much research has documented this cycle, finding new strategies to break it has proved to be a more difficult challenge. Why has technology not made more impact? Are lecturers going to be left behind by their own students in the use of digital technologies? Why have we seen costly and time-consuming failures? This book argues that we can answer these questions by heeding the lessons from previous experiences with the VLE and early iterations of the MOOC. More importantly, we can begin to ask new and different questions for the future to ensure better outcomes for our institutions and ultimately our learners.
