Different stories have been told about the origin and early history of the Old Stone Church. Our intention here is to preserve not only what is known, but to construct a more accurate and complete scenario of the early beginnings of the Old Stone Church at Greenspring. The present-day pristine appearance of the Cemetery adjoining the Church contrasts sharply with its condition prior to the formation in 1927 of the Old Stone Church Memorial Association. W.H. and Cora Crim's driving spirit was a major factor in the success of a major reclamation project. In 1927 she was instrumental in founding the Old Stone Church Memorial Association, whose objective is to preserve and maintain the historic Church and Cemetery. Our book not only chronicles the families who settled in Greenspring and the history of the church as well as its connections in the community. It tells the story of the Memorial Association and provides lists of trustees, association leaders, members, guest speakers and burials. It includes reminiscences of those who cherish the Old Stone Church.
