A contract wife! Dr. Harry Mason was a man with a mission and a nine-year-old daughter. He needed a wife, and Laurie Michelson seemed just perfect! He'd proposed a marriage of convenience and, to save her family home, Laurie had reluctantly accepted. But her disastrous first marriage had made her wary, and so she had insisted on a temporary contract—ninety days with an option to buy! Unfortunately, Laurie had reckoned without Harry's charm and her new stepdaughter's powers of persuasion. Within days she had fallen in love with them both! Now all she had to do was convince Harry to take her on a more permanent basis—like the next sixty years or so! "Emma Goldrick tickles readers' funny bones." —Romantic Times

As a favor for a friend, a bright and talented young woman volunteered to read her poetry to a group of prisoners during a Black History Month program. It was an encounter that would alter her life forever, because it was there, in the prison, that she would meet Rashid, the man who was to become her friend, her confidant, her husband, her lover, her soul mate. At the time, Rashid was serving a sentence of twenty years to life for his part in a murder. The Prisoner's Wife is a testimony, for wives and mothers, friends and families. It's a tribute to anyone who has ever chosen, against the odds, to love.

This book contains a lengthy introduction, translation and commentary on John Selden's Uxor Hebraica. Selden was a seventeenth century Christian talmudist, classicist, legal historian and member of the British parliament who wrote extensively on a wide variety of subjects including seven books, all in Latin, of various aspects of Jewish Law. Uxor Hebraica is an exhaustive treatment of Jewish marriage law. Among the subjects treated are incest (including a unique discussion of the Karaite rules), levirate, the marriage contract and ceremonies and divorce. Selden extensively used the Hebrew Bible, its ancient and later translations, the Talmud, and especially Maimonides' Mishneh Torah. He widened his discussion by including comparative material from the New Testament, church fathers, Greece and Rome, Islam, plus usages from Ethiopia, Russia, Byzantium and medieval Europe. Although written without polemic, the work is clearly related to the religious controversies of the day.
