Excerpt from The Mining Magazine, Vol. 3: July to December, 1910 At the end of June the shareholders in Globe Phoenix received acircular letter informing them that the mill would cease work for eight weeks pending repairs to the main shaft and at the same time some incomplete information was given concerning current developments in the mines. Meanwhile it is found that this news was known to several market operators several days before the shareholders heard of it and it is noteworthy that no mention is made of the results of exploration on the 17th or deepest level, where it is rumoured results are disappointing. It is eminently desirable that the directors should be reminded that they are trustees for the shareholders, both the minority not represented on the board and the majority controlling-the company. It is, as we have said repeatedly, a serious blemish on Rhode sian mining that cablegrams should be so often cryptic and reports belated, thus afford ing easy opportunity for raids on the part of well informed speculators.
