I could imagine that most senior citizens approaching seventy years of age might look back on their life and wish that they had accomplished more. The author of this book would be no exception. But praise the Lord, he has very few regrets. He has had the great privilege to see God do things in his life he never expected that He would, and he has a wife and family that bless him every day things that money could never have purchased, even if he did have more of it. In the book of Acts, as Peter and John were walking through the temple courts in Jerusalem, a crippled beggar asked them for money. Peter's answer to him was simply, "I have no silver and gold, but what I do have I give to you..." (Acts 3:6, ESV). I would tell my family the same thing. What I do have, money can't buy. And they can have it too. God can be just as real for them as He has always been for us. And when He promises them, "I am with you," they will never lack any good thing. If I were being totally honest, I do have one major regret in life: I wish I could have told more people about Jesus, and would have been a bolder witness. But I am praying that, by God's grace, the books I have written will perhaps accomplish what I didn't. People that I haven't met, in places that I never went, can still read what I have written. And like that little boy's lunch in Jesus' hands, five loaves of bread and two fish, or maybe even my four books and one life, can still feed a multitude. With God, all things are possible! Hallelujah!

There was a preacher who once said, In todays world, we need to keep a Bible in one hand and a newspaper in the other. In this particular book, the authors main source of information was the Word of God, as it had been in all of his other books; however, it was uncanny how it kept connecting with current events of 2012 and early 2013: from the summer Olympics to the fall presidential election, or the drought in the Midwest to the results of the Super Bowl. He also thought of a Bible reference with a similar thought: Jesus said, in Matthew 13:52 (NIV), every teacher of the law who has been instructed about the kingdom of heaven is like the owner of a house who brings out of his storeroom new treasures as well as old. The truths in the Scriptures have stood the test of time for thousands of years, and the old still shines brightly in our modern and sophisticated world. But they have new applications that we need now as much as Moses and Elijah needed them back then. (Perhaps this was why those godly men appeared on the Mount of Transfiguration, to talk with Jesus about the importance of His mission of mercy here among us, that would fulfill all of their hopes and dreams.) Then, in the authors own life, experiences that he had and lessons that he learned forty years ago have a connection with breaking news stories of today.

In Daniel 7:13-14 (NIV), the prophet Daniel had a vision in the night. He saw "one like a son of man, coming with the clouds of heaven.... He was given authority, glory and sovereign power; all peoples, nations, and men of every language worshiped him." Who was this "son of man," and what were these "clouds of heaven"? They could have been dark storm clouds of God's impending judgment or multitudes of heavenly angels. But there is one more "cloud" that I am the most interested in: "a great cloud of witnesses." They can testify to the world who this "Son of Man" is. He is "Jesus of Nazareth, the King of the Jews"! (See John 19:19.) Hebrews chapter 11 is the Bible's "Hall of Faith," recounting the names and deeds of all of the mighty saints of the Old Testament. The very next chapter begins with these words: "Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us" ... join the cloud (Hebrews 12:1ff., NIV). We also can be a part of this eternal "Kingdom of Praise." It includes "all peoples, nations, and men of every language" who will worship Jesus as their Lord and King. "Let us praise the Lord together, and exalt his name" (Psalm 34:3). Hallelujah!
