Over 4000 quotations, whose sources range from Plato to contemporary politicians like H. Ross Perot and Bill Clinton, are gathered in this new collection. Each entry includes the date of the quotation and indicates whether it was taken from a speech ora written work. There are indexes by author and by keyword according to the entry number. The Macmillan Dictionary of Political Quotations (Macmillan, 1993) includes more quotations (11,000) and arranges entries by different subject categories, e.g., abortion, energy, gun control, and obscenity. However, it only indexes them by author and concept rather than by the useful keyword. It too ranges from the classics to contempories like Clinton and Perot, though different quotes are sometimes given for the same people.
