Kraken and Esti are charged with investigating the mysterious disappearance of two sisters and finding it hard to make any headway when a wealthy businessman's murder appears to shine a light on the case. The man was poisoned with a medieval aphrodisiac--a crime that has eerie similarities to one detailed in the novel everyone in Vitoria is buzzing about. When the two sisters are discovered trapped behind a wall--bricked up alive--the parallels to the novel are undeniable. It is difficult today to imagine life before standard time was established in 1884. In the middle of the nineteenth century, for example, there were 144 official time zones in North America alone. The confusion that ensued, especially among the burgeoning railroad companies, was an hourly comedy of errors that ultimately threatened to impede progress. The creation of standard time, with its two dozen global time zones, is one of the great inventions of the Victorian Era, yet it has been largely taken for granted. In Time Lord, Clark Blaise re-creates the life of Sanford Fleming, who struggled to convince the world to accept standard time. It’s a fascinating story of science, politics, nationalism, and the determined vision of one man who changed the world. Set in a time marked by substantial technological and cultural transformation, Time Lord is also an erudite exploration of art, literature, consciousness, and our changing relationship to time

The Time Lords are an immensely civilised, and immensely powerful, race. Yet we know very little about them, save that they can live forever (barring accidents) and possess the secrets of space and time travel. Their history has been shrouded in myth and mystery. Until now. A Brief History of Time Lords unlocks the secrets of this ancient, legendary alien race - a civilisation that inflicted some of its most notorious renegades and criminals on the universe, but was also the benevolent power that rid the cosmos of its most fearsome enemies. Drawn from the ancient records of Gallifrey, and handed down from generation to generation, this remarkable book reveals the Time Lords in all of their guises: pioneers and power-mad conspirators, time-travellers and tyrants, creators and destroyers. Be careful who you share it with.

When Les comes home his parents do not recognize him. They take him for an old impostor. Dazed and confused, Les runs away. In a shop window he sees his reflection - an old gray-haired man. Now the boy has to understand what happened to him and find a way to return to his age. Les returns to the computer club in search of answers and finds out that Evil Sorcerers designed the game for stealing players' actual time of life. A woman out of time. A man stifled by propriety. A nemesis determined to take her away. A brother to the rescue. The Duke of Roxleigh is running the track, training his new set of Friesians, when a woman runs from the forest directly into his path nearly killing her. He takes her back to his manor to care for her... but there's something not quite right and though he wishes to be done with the entire situation, he just can't keep her from his thoughts... Francine Larrabee was a 21st century woman on a path bound for certain glory-until she lands in Victorian England and is nearly killed by a team of terrifying black horses led by a Duke who matches them in spirit and demeanor, and always seems to be cross. Though she is drawn to her rescuer, he wants nothing to do with her. Brother to The Duke of Roxleigh, the Lord Peregrine Trumbull, is Viscount Roxleigh in name, but a rake of the worst order by action.... until he meets his match in a girl who requires his complete submission, something he has never been familiar with. Lilly Steele was a simple country miss until she was kidnapped, brutally attacked and left for dead in the far reaches of Great Britain. Now she's escaped the aftermath and has asked Perry to do the untenable. She managed to recover her physical injuries... but the emotional scars run deep and will require absolute trust and healing from an altogether unlikely source. What is love? Where does it come from?
