We hoped it would be longer. We did not do lull justice to the grip of a great science upon a master of it. Last autumn he tendered his resignation. To become a physicist once more. In view of his own firm decision. The trustees felt constrained. Most reluctantly constrained. To accept it. And did so at their meeting of November 19. 1915.
