The changes to the NHS, which originated in the Conservative Government's White paper, Working for Patients, and were implemented from 1991, have prompted serveral changes to this edition of The Hospitals and Health Services Year Book. The Directory of NHS Trusts, published last year, has been incorporated into the Year Book; Other innovations in this edition are: fund-holding general practices are listed, teaching hospitals are identified, family health services authorities have been allocated their own discrete section.
