Excerpt from The Homeopathic Recorder, 1899, Vol. 14: MonthlyMedical students come together from every walk of life; they assemble by hundreds, and for four long years pursue with all their energy lines of special study. The farmers' sons fresh from the district schools, young school teachers, sons and brothers of physicians in practice, college graduates, clerks in stores, mechanics, professional men, young men of wealth and leisure and those for whom life is a constant struggle, young married men who feel the need of all earnestness in this new field, and the young man about town to whom the study of medicine comes more as a distraction than a life-work, all these classes, and many others, make up the bulk of the students in our medical schools and colleges, and are destined in turn to become the physicians and surgeons of the future, just as our present practitioners have come forth in past years in the same manner and from the same sources.About the PublisherForgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. What do Mark Twain, David Beckham, Catherine Zeta-Jones, and Mother Teresa have in common? All have been enthusiastic fans of homeopathy, the alternative medical tradition that treats “like with like.” Homeopathy has an incredible history of support by many of the most respected people of the past 200 years, and modern science is finally catching up. In The Homeopathic Revolution, Dana Ullman blends vivid personal stories and quotes from these and other luminaries from a variety of eras and fields with a new definition of homeopathy as “nanopharmacology”–one that will help people, including skeptics, start to understand its value. After explaining why conventional medicine is inadequately scientific, why homeopathy makes sense and works, and why it is so threatening to conventional medicine and drug companies, Ullman lets legends like Coretta Scott King, Cindy Crawford, Bill Clinton, Vincent Van Gogh, and other practitioners weigh in on the subject. By writing about homeopathy’s heroes and telling their stories, Ullman is able to reference and describe important scientific studies in user-friendly language that verifies the value of this widely used but still misunderstood tradition.

Excerpt from The Homeopathic Recorder, 1887, Vol. 2 Let us here review briefly his consideration Of this subject - its full discussion we will enter into at a future time from the standpoint of comparative pathology - and examine its issue after a lapse of fifty years before introducing our own views upon the same. The subject of chronic diseases early engaged the attention of Hahnemann, for be dis cerned, with the intuition Of genius, that in the successful management of them his new system of therapeutics would be put to the severest test. Excerpt from The Homeopathic Recorder, 1891, Vol. 6 There is no recorded instance wherein any of these salts have been used for the purpose of suicide, and the reported cases of accidental poisoning are few. These, however, are unequivocal and significant. They teach very evidently that toxic doses do not bring out the finer features of the physiological action of the drug, and they demonstrate, with equal clearness, that the result ing symptoms depend upon the size of the dose. The rule, with the salts of Barium, seems to be paralysis of the voluntarv muscles from large doses and clonic spasms from small. Boehm says that in cold-blooded animals the paralysis is preceded by a peculiar state of rudimentary, clonic spasms this order has not been observed in the human being. Excerpt from The Homeopathic Recorder Monthly, 1911, Vol. 26 The great universities where medicine is taught, as well as the little medical colleges that met the disapproval of Mr. Flexner; the strict examining boards as well as the easy-going ones; the high browed, dignified medical editor with the flippant one, and the one who has his eye chiefly on the advertiser; all these and all other good, and bad, citizens unite in agreeing that the physi cian Should be a man skilled in his profession, a highly educated man - and all that sort of thing. With colleges ever growing stricter, and examining boards probing deeper and deeper, why is it that the medical product turned out is SO very often but Dead sea fruit? Why is it that so very, very often the brilliant man, polished in all points like a diamond, theoretically capable of combating all manner Of disease, has so many humble patients turn from him with sorrow and disappointment, turn to the anathematized illegal practitioners? Why is it that when the treatment given one of the great, or noted, men of the world comes out after his death where the supposedly most brilliant and able physicians have been employed, it is severely, if quietly (though sometimes very openly in print), criticised as showing naught but helpless ignorance? This is a nice bunch of queries, but there are not many who read these lines but will admit that they are justified by everyday facts. The authorities on all sides have raised the standard of medical education very high, but is the poor devil afflicted with misery any better for it than he was under the ministrations of the old time doc? Let us cite an example. We get letters from all sorts and conditions of men, many of them containing curious things that would make a journal very interesting if published, but editors who love a quiet life do not publish them. Or result in the production of explosives or the like, and, while the Whole classification is cumbersome and grossly inaccurate, the different classes can be readily taught and learned, and a few typical or illustrative examples of each can be readily carried in the mind, to which other examples will be added from time to time; and after having learned these generically from books, lectures or conversations, trial and clinical experience, which cannot go far wrong, will differentiate them in the repertory, and a few favorite prescriptions will gradually become the fixed stock in trade for the ordinary practitioner.
