Excerpt from The Harvard Crimson: 1873-1906 On March 12, 1906, the Editors of the Crimson voted to compile and publish a history of the Crimson and a catalogue of its editors. The material for the history has been taken from the files of the paper, the "Remarks and Reminiscences" returned on the catalogue blanks, the minutes of board meetings, and personal interviews with graduates. Because of the short time which was available for preparing the book, the statistics will probably be found incomplete in the case of editors who have died, and those by whom no blank was returned. Care has, however, been taken to make them as complete as possible, with the exception of athletic records and publications. All additions and corrections should be sent to the Secretary of The Harvard Crimson, Cambridge, Mass. As this catalogue is to be sent to all former editors, it seems desirable to quote here two resolutions passed at a board meeting on May 14, 1906: "In view of the unbroken history of the Crimson since 1873, and of the fact that the paper has always been essentially a newspaper, the present Board of Editors places itself on record as being in favor of extending the membership of the Harvard Crimson Association to include all editors of the paper since that date.
