"Orange County, California, 1975. For Walter Wells, it's the happiest place on earth. He has a beautiful wife. Two great kids. A house with a pool. Contentment. Until fate strikes a devastating blow, leaving Walter with no reason to put the pieces of his life back together. He resists attempts to help, especially the unexpected--and unwanted--offer from a Vietnamese refugee named Bao Ngo, who bears his own sadness. Then, across a cultural divide, Walter and Bao find a game to share, a song, a meal and then a way back in this uplifting--and surprisingly funny--new play by a rising star in American theatre."--P. “Wealth without work Pleasure without conscience Science without humanity Knowledge without character Politics without principle Commerce without morality Worship without sacrifice. https://vidjambov.blogspot.com/2023/01/book-inventory-vladimir-djambov-talmach.html St. Gregory of Nyssa Thus, the [general] meaning of the name “Christ” is divided into two different meanings: wisdom and power — so that we, looking at the grandeur of the dispensation of all things, enlighten, with the help of what we contemplate, the inexpressible power of Him, and make it clear that [something] appeared in being, which did not exist before, that the diverse nature of beings was realized by divine beckon - that they would bow to the incomprehensible wisdom of the thinker of this, whose thoughts are the essence of the act. It is by no means idle and not useless for us to acquire the good that we believe that Christ is Power and Wisdom. For, that the prayer calls and to which the eye of the soul draws, then he draws himself to him in prayer. And so, in looking forward to the Force (and strength of Christ) "the power is approved ... in the inner chelovetsy", - as the apostle says ( Eph. 3, 16 ), and the one who calls on Wisdom (by which, again, the Lord means) is made wise, as the book of Proverbs says (Prov. 2: 3-5 ). So, the comrade of Christ, He is Strength and Wisdom, must also be co-named with power, having mastered sin , and show in himself wisdom, choosing the best. And through the manifestation of wisdom and strength in us: the first - in the choice of good, and the second - in the effort [with which the rationally [chosen] is preserved], the perfection of life is achieved, of the two [components] the term. “Being transformed from glory to glory” it [out nature] is changed so that through daily growth it will constantly become better, always improve, and never reach the limit of perfection. For true perfection lies in the fact that one should never stop growing for the better and limit perfection with no limit.

Award-winning poet David Wagoner and renowned editor David Lehman present the 2009 edition of Best American Poetry—"a ‘best’ anthology that really lives up to its title" (Chicago Tribune). Eagerly anticipated by scholars, students, readers, and poets alike, Scribner’s Best American Poetry series has achieved brand-name status in the literary world, serving as a yearly guide to who’s who in American poetry. Known for his marvelous narrative skill and humane wit, David Wagoner is one of the few poets of his generation to win the universal admiration of his peers. Working in conjunction with series editor David Lehman, Wagoner brings his refreshing eye to this year’s anthology. With new work by established poets, such as Billy Collins, Denise Duhamel, Mark Doty, and Bob Hicok, The Best American Poetry 2009 also features some of tomorrow’s leading luminaries. Readers of all ages and backgrounds will treasure this illuminating collection of modern American verse. With its high-profile editorship and its generous embrace of American poetry in all its exuberant variety, the Best American Poetry series continues to be, as Robert Pinsky says, "as good a comprehensive overview of contemporary poetry as there can be."
