John Griggs was born in New York in 1782. He married Abigail Brown and they were the parents of nine children. They later moved closer to the Eire Canal. Information on many of their descendants is given in this volume. Some branches of this family became members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and moved west with the Saints. Presently descendants live in New York, Washington, Oregon, California, Utah, and Arizona.
