Randy had always looked at the world differently than most, and was quietly disappointed in nearly everything he saw. Then, he met Mary Ann Doyle, a wild spitfire on the opposite end of his untroubled spectrum. Most had written her off, and few dared to look beyond her rugged past, but Randy was no ordinary fellow. From Johnny's Tavern through the quaint college town of Lawrence and a rare, blue-collar portrait of the Kentucky Derby, they catapulted a string of adventures that landed them more in love than they ever thought possible. But there's a sad reality behind dreams of outlasting a tough world, and Randy's observations are both breathtaking and heartbreaking; but he shoulders his instincts and follows the path of the battlers, his beloved "mad ones" en route to self-discovery and true meaning amidst chaos and romantic confusion.

"The Correspondence of Catherine McAuley, 1818-1841 is a new, fully documented edition of more than 320 surviving letters written by, to, or about McAuley during her lifetime. Drawn from archives worldwide and arranged chronologically, the letters are carefully transcribed and generously annotated. A general introduction and brief introductions to each section provide context. In her letters as well as in those of the other correspondents, one sees a delightfully human, affectionate woman; a compassionate, persistent servant of the poor and neglected; an astute businesswoman; and an unpretentious, humorous friend."--BOOK JACKET.

Blount County was carved out of the territory ceded to the State by the Creek Indians following their defeat at the Battle of Horseshoe Bend. The earliest settlers began streaming into the former wilderness as early as 1817. Blount was originally a large county, but over the decades pieces were taken to make up other adjoining counties such as Jefferson, Marshall, Etowah, and Cullman. Every cemetery within the contemporary boundaries of Blount was visited by the author and each readable tombstone was copied to develop the contents of this three volume series. Most of the cemeteries were read in 2002. Volume 1 covers alphabetically A through H, beginning with the Alldredge Family Cemetery and concluding with the High Rock Methodist Church Cemetery. This book is vital to any serious student of Blount County genealogy and history.
