Bartholomew Stovall (1665-ca. 1721) was born in Albury, Surrey, England. He died in Deep Creek, Powhatan Co., Va. He was buried in Henrico Co., Va. He arrived in Virginia late 1684. He was married (2) 1693 to Anne Burton (1675-1725), the daughter of Thomas Burton, Sr. and Susannah Hatcher, in St. John's Church, Henrico Co., Va. They had seven children. Included are the descendants of Hagar Stovall, who is probably the daughter of Bartholomew Stovall from his first marriage. Descendants live in Virginia, Tennessee, Missouri, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Illinois and elsewhere.

Bartholomew, son of Thomas, migrated to Warren County, Kentucky. Jesse Stovall, son of Bartholomew migrated to Carroll County, Mo. The Stovall family were registered members of the Society of Friends in Surrey County, England. Descendants are located in Missouri, Oklahoma, Arkansas and elsewhere.
