On the 1960's California coast, rogue FBI agent Scott Ivory is determined to root out any threats of potential espionage and recruits a group of young misfits to further his covert government agenda. Former FBI agent Scott Ivory gathers a group of young kids to counter communist and criminal activities on the streets of the California coast. With a modest budget and a loose agenda, his simple counterintelligence program quickly becomes an outlet for Ivory to use for his own designs, and the kids become pawns in a game of tug-of-war between government agents. A dark spin on early sixties pop culture, Endless Summer, Vol. 1: Dead Man’s Curve is based on 1960’s Huntington Beach, California—a thrilling sunshine-noir graphic novel rampant with drugs, murder, and government espionage.

Surfers loathed them, teenagers flocked to them, critics dismissed them, producers banked on them--surf and beach movies. For a short time in the 1960s they were extremely popular with younger audiences--mainly because of the shirtless surfer boys and bikini-clad beach girls, the musical performers, and the wild surfing footage. This lavishly illustrated filmography details 32 sizzling fun-in-the-sun teenage epics from Gidget to the Beach Party movies with Frankie and Annette to The Sweet Ride plus a few offshoots in the snow!) Entries include credits, plot synopses, memorable lines, reviews and awards, and commentary from such as Aron Kincaid of The Girls on the Beach, Susan Hart of The Ghost in the Invisible Bikini, Peter Brown of Ride the Wild Surf, Chris Noel of Beach Ball, and Ed Garner of Beach Blanket Bingo. Biographies of actors and leading actresses who made their marks in the genre are included.

There are a great many names in this book because over the course of some thirty-five or so years in the entertainment business, Lloyd worked with, met with, or just talked to a lot of people including celebrities of various ilk. A few became his friends; many were merely business or golfing acquaintances. The time he spent with the Beach Boys surely made them his friends or at least one would hope. Lloyd always made it a point to differentiate between people he designated as friends and those who were merely acquaintances based on, to a very minor degree, who picked up the check or whether or not he was close enough to be invited to their homes. Or even how quickly or even whether they returned phone calls. There are many of each. A lot of what is included in this book has not previously been in print, either because it related to things he shared personally with the people involved or because it was not known to the general public. While this isn't quite a "tell all" book, it is definitely a "tell some" book. Anyway, herein lies an opportunity to live what Jack Lloyd lived and then re-lived as he wrote it. Enjoy the ride.

In celebration of the approaching 21st century, the author joined the 46-foot ketch Hornblower II in a 'round-the-world rally. The British-sponsored Millennium Odyssey started in 1998 with a flame-lighting ceremony in the Old City of Jerusalem and ended on Easter Day 2000 at the Vatican. There, rally organizer Jimmy Cornell presented Pope John Paul II a lantern with the flame carried around the world from the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. The author recounts his east-west voyage along the "coconut milk run" through the Panama Canal, across the Pacific, Indian, and South Atlantic oceans, then back to the Caribbean and Florida. Along the way, he reflects on the marine ecosystem, globalization, and the history of exploration starting with Marco Polo, Ibn Battuta, Zheng He, Magellan to Cook.
