William Edwards, son of Richard Edwards, was born in England and immigrated to America about 1640 with his mother and step-father, James Cole. He marries Agnes Spencer, widow of William Spenser, in 1645. They had one son, Richard. Richard Edwards was one of the first recognized attorneys of the Colonies. He married 1) Elizabeth Tuthill of New Haven, Connecticut, in 1667. They had six children. He married 2) Mary Talcott in 1692. They had six children. He died 20 April 1718 in Hartford, Connecticut. Descendants lived in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York and elsewhere.
