When you think of God, what images come to mind? Do you see God in others? Do you acknowledge God's presence in each circumstance and situation of your everyday life, no matter how trivial? How you conceive God determines how you experience God. As contemporary author Frederick Buechner advises, "Listen to your life. Listen to what happens to you, because it is through what happens to you that God speaks." While spiritual life of some kind is necessary for psychological health, psychotherapist Thomas Moore indicates in Care of the Soul that excessive or ungrounded spirituality can be dangerous, leading to compulsive and even violent behavior. It is better for religious seekers to embrace a religious practice that has been tested and refined over time than to experiment solo or by joining some exotic new sect. In this book, Dr. Vande Kappelle explores the richness of Catholic and Protestant spiritual traditions and the power of intuition and imagination to chart an approach to the sacred that is simple, practical, and effective. Holistic religion requires three elements in creative tension: a historical or institutional element, a mystical or emotional element, and an intellectual or scientific element. If you want to know what this means and how it is accomplished, read this book. Designed as a study guide for group or individual use, In the Potter's Workshop will challenge and inspire you to experience God in ways that are sustainable and transformative.

Academic theology is in need of a new genre. In "Transgressive Devotion" Natalie Wigg-Stevenson articulates a theological vision of that genre as performance art. She argues that theology done as performance art stops trying to describe who God is, and starts trying to make God appear. Recognising that the act of studying theology or practicing ministry is always a performance, where the boundaries between what we see, feel, experience and learn are not just blurred but potentially invisible, Wigg-Stevenson brings together ethnographic theological fieldwork, historical and contemporary Christian theological traditions, and performance artworks themselves. A daring vision of theology which will energise anybody feeling ‘boxed in’ by the discipline, Transgressive Devotion blurs borders between orthodoxy, heterodoxy and heresy to reveal how the very act of doing theology makes God and humanity vulnerable to each other. This is theology which is a liturgy of Divine incantation. In other words: this is theology which is also prayer.

Daily Manna: Pressing on to Maturity in Our Mystical Communion with Jesus presents a series of daily devotions taken from an exploration of the Epistle to the Hebrews. The primary purpose of this guide is to exhort believers in Christ to press on in their spiritual maturity through their mystical communion with Jesus. In setting forth Jesus' superiority as the God-man over all the prophets, priests, and kings of the Old Testament and thus over all other religions and their founders these devotions provide evidence of the supreme and final truths concerning our God, as well as what Christ's accomplished work means for all Christians. Because God's ultimate goal in redeeming us to Himself is to enjoy communion with us, Daily Manna emphasizes how such communion is only possible as we intentionally, by faith, enter daily into spiritual communion with Jesus. Each devotion concludes by encouraging readers to exercise their faith through some practical steps of meditation, in order to experience the mystical communion we may have with our Savior. Daily Manna is instructive and encouraging, urging Christians to grow deeper in their understanding of God's truth concerning Christ and, through that understanding, to enter more fully into their experience of eternal life through their mystical communion with Jesus.

The Revelations of Divine Love is a book of Christian mystical devotions written by Julian of Norwich. It is believed to be the first published book in the English language to be written by a woman. At the age of thirty 13 May 1373 Julian was struck with a serious illness. As she prayed and prepared for death she received a series of sixteen visions on the Passion of Christ and the Virgin Mary. Saved from the brink of death Julian of Norwich dedicated her life to solitary prayer and the contemplation of the visions she had received. She wrote a short account of her visions probably soon after the event. About twenty or thirty years after her illness near the end of the fourteenth century she wrote down her visions and her understanding of them. This is the Grace Warrack translation that brought this great work the recognition it deserved.
