The first time she opens her eyes, Eve gazes on One whose beauty nearly blinds her, whose breath is in her lungs. Her Creator takes her hand and gives her to one like her and yet different. Together, she and Adam experience pure joy as they explore Eden. But her favorite moments are when the Creator comes to walk with them, day after day. Until everything changes. With one act of disobedience, Eve finds that her world is no longer a friendly place. With remorse in her heart, she must face the unknown future--the births, the deaths, the sacrifices, the loss of the one home she has ever known. Perhaps worst of all is the loss of trust, not only with her Creator but with the man who shares her life. How will they ever survive out of Eden? Bestselling biblical fiction author Jill Eileen Smith imagines the life of the first woman to ever live, unspooling a story of love, loss, and the promise of redemption.

In The Reformation of Ritual Susan Karant-Nunn explores the function of ritual in early modern German society, and the extent to which it was modified by the Reformation. Employing anthropological insights, and drawing on extensive archival research, Susan Karant-Nunn outlines the significance of the ceremonial changes. This comprehensive study includes an examination of all major rites of passage: birth, baptism, confirmation, engagement, marriage, the churching of women after childbirth, penance, the Eucharist, and dying. The author argues that the changes in ritual made over the course of the century reflect more than theological shifts; ritual was a means of imposing discipline and of making the divine more or less accessible. Church and state cooperated in using ritual as one means of gaining control of the populace.

Understanding gender neutral deficit may be misconstrued, the context is ideal for this day and age. This book is timely, precise and speaks to the generations of women living in today’s world. Since the beginning Eve and her descendants thereof have been the blame for all ills befalling mankind. She’s either too much this or too much of that. The author seeks to explore the ills for generations to come identifying with caution to attempt to bring balance; healing to what’s broken. For generations daughters of mankind were not recognized as part of a system created by their counterparts therefore abided by structures put together by their others. Thanks to the deceitfulness of the male disposition that instituted this conflict of the sexes, perfectionisms, competitions, evaluation and/or appraisals, criticisms and judgments are all fundamental and have been a part of this jumble this book is about for generations. Cultures that were cultivated or instituted appealed to the man, his rights, his powers and his dominance in society but women weren’t allowed or afforded the same privileges and were forced to be subject to powers. I heard a preacher say one time that “conception is a pleasurably sweet process for men yet excruciating for women” – paraphrased - Thompson. Men in many cultures get glory in childbearing leaving out and clouding the drudgery involving these growing pains and labor of love women get exposed to. To this day women are still fighting for recognition, having been “in the dark” for centuries, female genital mutilations still take place in some remote cultures, childhood marriages honored in some religions, economic empowerment in western mores still a hot debate with men earning more than women and a Patriarchal system of government still in place inspired the title “Daughters of Eve” in reflection to the structure in place to recognize the labor intensive processes mothers go through in reproduction, giving the hand that rocks the cradle the honor they deserve.

This volume offers an instructive comparative perspective on the Judaic, Christian, Greek and Roman myths about the creation of humans in relation to each other, as well as a broad overview of their enduring relevance in the modern Western world and its conceptions of gender and identity. Taking the idea that the way in which a society regards humanity, and especially the roots of humanity, is crucial to an understanding of that society, it presents the different models for the creation and nature of mankind, and their changing receptions over a range of periods and places. It thereby demonstrates that the myths reflect fundamental continuities, evolutions and developments across cultures and societies: in no context are these more apparent than with regard to gender. Chapters explore the role of gender in Graeco-Roman and Judaeo-Christian creation myths and their reception traditions, demonstrating how perceptions of 'male' and 'female' dating back to antiquity have become embedded in, and significantly influenced, subsequent perceptions of gender roles. Focusing on the figures of Prometheus, Pandora, Adam and Eve and their instantiations in a broad range of narratives and media from antiquity to the present day, they examine how variations on these myths reflect the concerns of the societies producing them and the malleability of the stories as they are recast to fit different contexts and different audiences.

In the Kingdom of God, I came to the conclusion that, the key principle when it comes to marriage is: "My Son Marries My daughter." I coined this phrase as my contribution to the world on the subject of Christian (or religious) marriages. God instructs that His children marry among themselves. Don't be horrified, this principle is not the same as incest. 2nd Corinthians 6:14 instructs that God's children should not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. It is God's principle. As a child of God, you violate it at your own peril. From the Old Testament to the New Testament, the Bible is awash with examples of those who followed this key principle and had successful marriages (e.g. Isaac and Rebecca, Jacob and Rachel, Joseph and Mary) while other examples show what happened whenever this principle was violated (e.g. Ahab and Jezebel). Our Heavenly Father wants His sons to marry His daughters. The creation account in Genesis 1:26 - 28 tells us that God created Adam, His own son. Later on, out of Adam, God made His daughter, Eve. Apart from creation, God's first official role was to conduct a marriage in the Garden of Eden (Genesis 2:18 -24). That day His son Adam married His daughter, Eve. He sealed the key principle on Kingdom relationships, and in a way declared: 'My son marries my daughter.' That's marriage, God's way. To sum up the book: God started with a wedding in the garden of Eden; He is going to finish with a wedding in the clouds (1st Thess. 4:13-18), completing the full circle of this Divine principle. His only begotten son (Jesus Christ/the Bridegroom) will marry His only daughter (the Church/the Bride). It's official: 'My son marries my daughter', says God. Enjoy
