In this whimsical picture book, a young boy enjoys an afternoon of creative play, imagining the many supplies he'd need for a trip to the moon: water for washing negel vasser, coins for tzedaka, friends to share with, parents to honor... As he packs and prepares, our hero realizes how hard it would be to do mitzvos in a place that has nothing but what he can bring along, The simplicity of the rhyming text and charming illustrations present a very profound truth -- that there already is a perfect place for doing all the mitzvos of Hashem. "If I Went to the Moon" will inspire boys and girls to do mitzvos with joy and appreciation, right here on Earth!

Research in cognitive psychology has contributed much to our understanding of reading and spelling. Most of this work has concentrated on the processes used by literate adults to comprehend and produce written language, but there is a growing interest in applying cognitive theories to the development of literacy, and to the understanding of disorders of reading and writing. Such disorders may be acquired as a consequence of a brain injury to a previously literate adult, or may be developmental, occurring in otherwise normal children. This textbook attempts to present this work to a non-specialist audience. Though written primarily with students of psychology and education in mind, it is accessible also to parents and teachers. The broad organization of the first edition is retained. The book opens with a consideration of the history and nature of writing, then moves on to deal with the nature of skilled reading. Other chapters deal with: the different ways that brain injury in adulthood can disrupt the mature reading skill the 'acquired dyslexias'; spelling and writing processes, both in skilled writers and in patients with 'acquired dysgraphia'; the way children develop the skills of reading and writing; and developmental reading and writing problems.

In follow-up to the first book, Which Reminds Me of a Story, this book, Since You Asked Here’s a Story, is a second collection of short autobiographical anecdotes written for the tween and early teen. Each is an entertaining true story of life as it happened to the author but told in a way and point of view that engages the younger reader! More importantly, the reader can identify with the timeless content of each story, which might be about maturing, lessons we learn, emotions we feel, meeting new challenges, recognizing one's mistakes, dealing with changes in life, and going through situations with family and friends, to name just a few. Many of the stories were originally presented orally in the classroom; meaning, they were first related from time to time by Dr. Singh to his students. As with his students, don’t be surprised if the reader will also begin to reflect on his or her own experiences in life, thus building on learning from personal memories!
