Saul David's All The King's Men is a thrilling history of the British Redcoat from the English Civil War to Waterloo. Between 1660 and 1815 British supremacy on foreign soil was near total. Central to this success was the humble redcoat soldier who showed heroism in battle and stoicism in peace, despite appalling treatment. This is their story: of brutal discipline and inedible food, of loyalty and low pay, of barracks and battlefield - of victory, defeat, life and death. Praise for All The King's Men: 'An extraordinary story, packed with drama, incident and great characters...All The King's Men is all you could hope for...Quite an achievement', Patrick Bishop, Country Life 'A heady mixture of heroism, incompetence, devilish tactics and plain good luck', Sunday Times 'Filled with swashbuckling derring-do, the reek of blood and gunpowder, combined with shrewd analysis of power, war and psychology', Simon Sebag Montefiore Saul David is Professor of War Studies at the University of Buckingham and the author of several critically acclaimed books, including The Indian Mutiny: 1857, Zulu and, most recently, Victoria's Wars: The Rise of Empire. He recently presented 'Bullets, Boots and Bandages' for BBC 4 and is a regular contributor to Radio 4.

An enchanting tale of love set in medieval Scotland by the New York Times–bestselling author of Border Lord and Border Bride. Upon his release from his seven-year imprisonment in the Tower of London, the Highland chieftain Drummond Macqueen thinks of only one thing—revenge. But when he seeks out the treacherous bride who betrayed him, he instead finds a woman who is more like a stranger. Both lovely and defiant, it seems his deceitful wife has drastically—and inexplicably—changed. Seven years ago, Johanna took her dying sister’s place to raise her infant son, even if it meant sacrificing her own happiness. But when her sister’s husband Drummond—thought to be executed—shows up alive, Johanna’s precious independence is threatened. Soon Drummond’s bitterness gives way to passion, and Johanna’s soul-deep longing erupts. But when enemies of the past come back to settle old scores, the blossoming love may be crushed before it even has a chance to bloom. “So powerfully moving that the audience will feel that Ms. Lamb has exceeded her usual high standard of excellence . . . Just another tremendous novel from one of the greats.” —The Reader’s Voice “Arnette Lamb creates love stories that fire the heart and make your blood sing and your imagination soar! Chieftain is as enthralling, tempestuous, compelling, and intense as any of Ms. Lamb’s richly painted tales.” —RT Book Reviews

Robert Greene (1558-1592) was the author of romances, pamphlets, lyrics, and plays. He was educated at Cambridge and Oxford, and led a remarkably irresponsible and dissolute life. The comedy Friar Bacon and Friar Bungay was probably written and produced around 1589, and was first printed in 1594. Its account of the marvelous exploits of Friar Bacon is drawn from The Famous Historie of Fryer Bacon, a sixteenth-century account of the legends surrounding the Oxford Franciscan, Roger Bacon (b. 1214). The play was an important influence both on Marlowe's Doctor Faustus and Shakespeare's The Tempest. Daniel Seltzer was professor of English at Harvard University and at Princeton University, as well as an actor on stage and in films.
