In Dundas' assured hands, one man's search for answers makes for a lyrical, riveting meditation on memory.--EW One man knows the connection between two extraordinary acts of arson, fifteen years apart, in his Montana hometown--if only he could remember it. Having lost much of his memory from a traumatic brain injury sustained in Iraq, army veteran Matthew Rose is called back to Montana after his father's death to settle his affairs, and hopefully to settle the past as well. It's not only a blank to him, but a mystery. Why as a teen did he suddenly become sullen and vacant, abandoning the activities and people that had meant most to him? How did he, the son of hippy activists, wind up enlisting in the first place? Then on his first night back, Matthew sees a house go up in flames, and it turns out a local college student has died inside. And this event sparks a memory of a different fire, an unsolved crime from long ago, a part of Matthew's past that might lead to all the answers he's been searching for. What he finds will connect the old fire and the new, a series of long-unsolved mysteries, and a ruthless act of murder.

Poetry. "The poetry of Chad Sweeney is exuberant, imagistic, and prophetic. It locates a 'critical moment' of the ineffable that would be inexpressible, had it not been so beautifully expressed: 'the last hawk in the net of his eye.' Prophetic means of the world--'the median burns with oleander from Miami to LA' and 'the beer tastes of uranium'--but also touched by the marvelous ('the fire is folded inside its wood'). This is a poetry of awakening, of coming into knowledge. We are near the beginning and the end, but in a curiously real place where you can hear the white teeth of a bull pull at the grass"--Paul Hoover.

"Read Me, Liberals" is an attempt to awaken a certain class of people that are morally at risk. The modern United States political system is dominated by a two-party system, Democrats and Republicans. Either party is perfect nor will the ever be perfect, but the Democratic party has gone so far left it is a threat to the freedom and safety of American citizens. The modern Democratic party and their allies want to dramatically alter the United States to their fascist ideology. They want total control of you and I by any means necessary. They want to control how you think and what you can say. Most importantly they want you to be submissive to a complete totalitarian government control. This book exposes all the hypocrisy, corruption, and moral insanity that comes from the "left". Most importantly it exposes the two-tiered justice system, one for Democrats and one for the rest of us. This book is meant to target liberals, democrats, and independents but will help educate conservatives and Republicans as well. I challenge anyone that loves the United States to read this and help save this country while we still can. Liberals will continue to push their one-world order agenda until they get what they want. The United States is more politically divided than any other time in history and we need to come together somehow.

Explore the world of Minecraft inside and out with this boxed set collecting three official novels: The Crash, The Lost Journals, and The End! Minecraft: The Crash When Bianca and her best friend Lonnie are in a terrible accident, she's hospitalized and faced with questions she's not equipped to answer. She chooses instead to try a new virtual reality version of Minecraft that gives her control over a world at the very moment she thought she'd lost it. As she plays, she realizes that Lonnie is somewhere in here too. She encounters Esme and Anton, two kids who are also playing on the hospital server, and teams up with them to play through to the End—and hopefully to find Lonnie and bring him back to reality. Minecraft: The Lost Journals Allison and Max must team up to find his missing uncle Nicholas. Using the journal his beloved uncle left behind as a guide, the duo hurtle headlong into a treacherous and unknown landscape called the Nether. There, they meet a strange girl named Freya and her woefully unheroic wolf, Bunny Biter, who agree to help them in their quest. The group must take on dangerous new foes and unravel the cryptic journal to find Nicholas and reunite this fractured family. Minecraft: The End For as long as they can remember, the twin endermen Fin and Mo have lived in the mysterious land of the End. They know everything there is to know about their world—or so they think until the strangers from another dimension arrive. The invaders are called humans, and they’ve come to steal artifacts and slay the ender dragon. Caught off guard, the twins are trapped in the middle of a war between the endermen and the humans, with the future of their home at stake.

When I was a student, in the early fifties, the properties of gratings were generally explained according to the scalar theory of optics. The grating formula (which pre dicts the diffraction angles for a given angle of incidence) was established, exper imentally verified, and intensively used as a source for textbook problems. Indeed those grating properties, we can call optical properties, were taught'in a satisfac tory manner and the students were able to clearly understand the diffraction and dispersion of light by gratings. On the other hand, little was said about the "energy properties", i. e. , about the prediction of efficiencies. Of course, the existence of the blaze effect was pointed out, but very frequently nothing else was taught about the efficiency curves. At most a good student had to know that, for an eche lette grating, the efficiency in a given order can approach unity insofar as the diffracted wave vector can be deduced from the incident one by a specular reflexion on the large facet. Actually this rule of thumb was generally sufficient to make good use of the optical gratings available about thirty years ago. Thanks to the spectacular improvements in grating manufacture after the end of the second world war, it became possible to obtain very good gratings with more and more lines per mm. Nowadays, in gratings used in the visible region, a spacing small er than half a micron is common.

A practical guide for engineers and students that covers a wide range of optical design and optical metrology topics Optical Engineering Science offers a comprehensive and authoritative review of the science of optical engineering. The book bridges the gap between the basic theoretical principles of classical optics and the practical application of optics in the commercial world. Written by a noted expert in the field, the book examines a range of practical topics that are related to optical design, optical metrology and manufacturing. The book fills a void in the literature by coving all three topics in a single volume. Optical engineering science is at the foundation of the design of commercial optical systems, such as mobile phone cameras and digital cameras as well as highly sophisticated instruments for commercial and research applications. It spans the design, manufacture and testing of space or aerospace instrumentation to the optical sensor technology for environmental monitoring. Optics engineering science has a wide variety of applications, both commercial and research. This important book: Offers a comprehensive review of the topic of optical engineering Covers topics such as optical fibers, waveguides, aspheric surfaces, Zernike polynomials, polarisation, birefringence and more Targets engineering professionals and students Filled with illustrative examples and mathematical equations Written for professional practitioners, optical engineers, optical designers, optical systems engineers and students, Optical Engineering Science offers an authoritative guide that covers the broad range of optical design and optical metrology topics and their applications.
