After Srila Prabhupada's physical departure on 14th November, 1977, the following occurred: 1) Taking advantage of this departure, 11 men immediately usurped Srila Prabhupada's position as the diksa guru of ISKCON. 2) One of the 11 men who did this was HH Hridayananda Dasa Goswami ("HD"). He then went on, from around 1980 until 1982, to complete Srila Prabhupada's Srimad-Bhagavatam, by giving his own translations and purports on cantos 10 (after chapter 13), 11 and 12, which will be referred to as "HD's Bhagavatam". However, as we proved in our book, The Final Order, there is no record of Srila Prabhupada having given an order for HD and the others to take his position as ISKCON's diksa guru. Thus, event 1 was unauthorised. In this book, we will show that Srila Prabhupada similarly gave no order for HD to complete his Bhagavatam, and thus HD's Bhagavatam is also unauthorised. In addition, we will show that a group which has made it a mission to promote HD's Bhagavatam as bona fide must, by their own arguments, also reject it as being unauthorised.

THE BOOK THAT HAS THE GURUS ON THE RUN! "The Final Order by Krishnakant Desai has been perhaps the most influential post-1977 publication in the Vaisnava world." - HH Bhakti Vikasa Swami, ISKCON guru Who should initiate disciples in the Hare Krishna Movement? The spiritual purity and general prestige of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON, or the Hare Krishna Movement) has undergone a serious meltdown since the physical departure on November 14th, 1977 of its pure and saintly founder, His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Srila Prabhupada. Most of the scandals that have rocked the Movement can be traced back to fairly blatant deviations from the instructions and pure standards given by Srila Prabhupada, the chief of which being his unauthorised displacement as the sole initiating (diksa) guru for ISKCON. This particular deviation was highlighted in 1996 in the first edition of The Final Order which was sent to all ISKCON's leaders in a bid to help solve the Movement’s problems. No ISKCON leader could now credibly claim to be oblivious to the legal documents, personally signed by Srila Prabhupada, that clearly set out his intention to remain the sole initiating guru for the global spiritual movement he founded. It is these legal documents that constitute the core of The Final Order. Far from accepting the conclusions of The Final Order, ISKCON's Governing Body Commission (GBC) embarked on a systematic and sometimes brutal campaign of harassment, suppression and evasion. Surely it is no coincidence that most, if not all, of the members of the GBC are also initiating gurus? This book will help the reader get to grips with the plain facts underlying one of the most fascinating and serious religious controversies of the modern age. "The GBC should all be the instructor gurus. I am the initiator guru, and you should be the instructor guru by teaching what I am teaching and doing what I am doing." - Srila Prabhupada Letter to Madhudvisa, 4/8/1975 “Yes, I am the spiritual master of this institution, and all the members of the Society, they're supposed to be my disciples. They follow the rules and regulations which I ask them to follow, and they are initiated by me spiritually.” - Srila Prabhupada Radio Interview, 12/3/1968

HH Bhakti Charu Swami - In his own words There are currently some 70 persons claiming to be gurus in the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON, or the Hare Krishna Movement) - successors to the original guru and founder, His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. Out of all of these, His Holiness Bhakti Charu Swami is considered one of the most successful, respected and scholarly. Given this, and the fact that all ISKCON gurus were authorised via the same GBC* system, a detailed examination of the life and teachings of Bhakti Charu Swami as an ISKCON GBC-elected guru will simultaneously provide an evaluation of the whole ISKCON guru system. This examination will be undertaken solely by studying the words and actions of Bhakti Charu Swami, and simply letting them speak for themselves. In this way, what follows cannot be disputed as simply being someone’s subjective opinion about Bhakti Charu Swami. Rather, this will simply be Bhakti Charu Swami’s opinion of himself, thus rendering it beyond argument. Since this book is Bhakti Charu Swami himself presenting his own life and teachings in his own words, it can thus be considered as an “autobiography” of this ISKCON guru. * Governing Body Commission “Yes, devotees need a qualified spiritual master and I will say in ISKCON we have the most qualified spiritual master who is Srila Prabhupada. [...] In ISKCON who is the ultimate spiritual master? You need a spiritual master, but who is that spiritual master? It is Srila Prabhupada.” - HH Bhakti Charu Swami “You are all my disciples and I am your spiritual master and if we don’t make it a point to develop that relationship it won’t happen. I am your spiritual master and we have a very important relationship. As your spiritual master I am like your father, I am like your friend.” - HH Bhakti Charu Swami

The path to spiritual understanding can be a confusing one. The manic pace of the present age has loosened the threads that tied our ancestors to prayer and faith. But role models could still help us find our way back. In Icons of Grace, respected ISKCON monk Nityanand Charan Das introduces readers to the lives of twenty-one extraordinary people who served as spiritual guides, through their teachings and through personal example. At one level, the lives of these great souls-from Mirabai and Ramanujacharya to Sant Tukaram and Adi Shankaracharya-are a practical demonstration of the most essential spiritual principles. In relating them, though, Nityanand Charan Das aims not just to record the richness of their cultural and spiritual legacies but also to convey to readers the lessons one can learn through one's daily actions and choices. Icons of Grace is inspiring. It also offers hope: however imperfect our journey has been thus far, spiritual redemption is accessible to us all.
