The ULSTER ARTS DIRECTORY is a yearly compendium of individual artists & arts organizations within Ulster County New York, compiled & published by the Ulster Arts Alliance. The Alliance serves as the arts council for Ulster County, one of the largest per capita concentrations of artistic talent in the country. Located along the Hudson River, incorporating the central Catskill Mountains, & positioned only two hours north of New York City, Ulster County has a long history of exceptional artists residing within its borders. This book is the first major study of the Gaelic song tradition in an area which was the main center of literature in Leath Chuinn (the northern half of Ireland) from the end of the 17th century to the middle of the 19th century.
