It has been five years since the A.R.EX. project's first genetics experiment to create a new breed of super-efficient reptilian soldiers. Rivers, a newly created being, feels out of place in the human world, burdened by his creation, physical appearance, and the reality of his nonexistent identity and past life as Erikson Meyers. As he tries to enjoy his life living as Alex Rivers in New York City, he has no idea that someone out there hates him enough to ruin his life. As Arex attempts to exist peacefully, away from the prying eyes of the perpetually hungry paparazzi, a new humanoid reptile stalks the homeless, assaulting and robbing the innocent of what little they have. As the FBI begins an investigation to identify the perpetrator, Arex is the obvious suspect, since there are no other reptilian soldiers like him out there—or so they think. Soon, however, they must face the horrible possibility that someone has been able to replicate the secret A.R.EX. serum. In this gripping story, a compelling case unfolds as Arex Rivers is reluctantly thrown back into the spotlight and faces the reality that he may not be the only one of his kind.

An Introduction to Electrodynamics provides an excellent foundation for those undertaking a course on electrodynamics, providing an in-depth yet accessible treatment of topics covered in most undergraduate courses, but goes one step further to introduce advanced topics in applied physics, such as fusions plasmas, stellar magnetism and planetary dynamos. Some of the central ideas behind electromagnetic waves, such as three-dimensional wave propagation and retarded potentials, are first explored in the introductory background chapters and explained in the much simpler context of acoustic waves. The inclusion of two chapters on magnetohydrodynamics provides the opportunity to illustrate the basic theory of electromagnetism with a wide variety of physical applications of current interest. Davidson places great emphasis on the pedagogical development of ideas throughout the text, and includes many detailed illustrations and well-chosen exercises to complement the material and encourage student development.

For the past 50 years, the Census Bureau has conducted experiments and evaluations with every decennial census involving field data collection during which alternatives to current census processes are assessed for a subset of the population. An "evaluation" is usually a post hoc analysis of data collected as part of the decennial census processing to determine whether individual steps in the census operated as expected. The 2010 Program for Evaluations and Experiments, known as CPEX, has enormous potential to reduce costs and increase effectiveness of the 2020 census by reducing the initial list of potential research topics from 52 to 6. The panel identified three priority experiments for inclusion in the 2010 census to assist 2020 census planning: (1) an experiment on the use of the Internet for data collection; (2) an experiment on the use of administrative records for various census purposes; and (3) an experiment (or set of experiments) on features of the census questionnaire. They also came up with 11 recommendations to improve efficiency and quality of data collection including allowing use of the Internet for data submission and including one or more alternate questionnaire experiments to examine things such as the representation of race and ethnicity.

The Panel on Research on Future Census Methods was formed to examine alternative designs for the 2010 census and to assist the Census Bureau in planning tests and analyses to help assess and compare the advantages and disadvantages of them. Designing the 2010 Census: First Interim Report, examines whether the auxiliary information that is planned to be collected (and retained) during the 2000 census could be augmented to help guide the Census Bureau in its assessment of alternative designs for the 2010 census.
