Gellias, the molt wealthy of the citizens of Agrigentum, ereeted feveral large apartments in his houfe for the reception and entertainment of his guef'ts. Servants waited by his order at the gates of the city, to invite all firangers to lodge at their.mafier's houfe, whither they condtieted them. Hofpitality was much prae tifed and efteemed by the generality Of that city. A violent ftorm having obliged five hundred horfemen to take {helter there, Gellias entertained them all in his, houfe, and fupplied them immediately with dry cloaths, of which he had always a great quantity in his wardrobe.
